Where do you want your blog audience to engage with your content? (4 posts)

  • I know that among bloggers, there is always debate on where it is most important to get social engagement between the following ares.

    • Comments on your blog posts.
    • Tweets of your blog posts.
    • Comments on your Facebook wall when you link to your blog posts in a status update.
    • Social bookmarking of your blog post.
So I was just curious – where do you see the most engagement for your blog – through social sharing, blog comments, or social bookmarking?  And most importantly, where do you want to see the most engagement between these areas?

  • @kristi-hines That’s a great question, Kristi.

I’m a newbie, but even with my young blog, it looks like most of my readers engage on Facebook (as “Likes” and comments when I link to my blog in a status update). Once in a while, my blog posts are retweeted and included in people’s papers (Paper.Li).

I’d honestly prefer to see more engagement directly on my blog in the comments, and via social bookmarking. I currently bookmark my posts with StumbleUpon and Pinterest, but not many others in my audience do so, despite having accounts on those services themselves.

  • They mostly engage on Twitter and Facebook when I share posts there.
I share it on that platform to get more exposure so for the users of that platform is is easy to respond on that platform.
Of course I would prefer responds on the blog but somehow it is easier to read the post on the blog and respond on the platform they got the message. Not sure how I can influence this.

  • Most of the engagement now happens in facebook because majority of my readers are facebook lovers. Then another set of users drop comments and engage on my blog posts. I see the more engaging a content is the better it is for marketing and SEO purposes. I am building a community on all the major platforms that I use.

StumbleUpon was a good one that I have used in the past but now just fall short on time for using it.
