What’s your preferred blogging platform? (12 posts)

  • I’m getting ready to start a corporate blog, and while we had a Tumblr blog, I’m not quite sure this was the best platform, since the blog wasn’t visual heavy. I’m curious to know what everyone else prefers. Blogger? WordPress? Xanga (just in case we want to go back to the 90′s.)

    I’m open to some suggestions!

  • Wordpress – easiest to navigate, best plugins, best SEO.

  • I’m with @sharijstauch.  Wordpress is very easy to use and has so many options.

  • Definitely, WordPress. If your new to blogging, use the WordPress.com because it’s easy to navigate and to get accustomed to.

  • I’m thinking about doing some type of social media consulting. I’ve been blogging for about 2 yrs now and have an extensive knowledge of it. I’ve heard that you should have at least 5yrs of experience in a field before you even consider being a consultant. What’s your take and how do you attract potential clients?

  • I don’t think you will find anyone who will say anything but Wordpress… When I say Wordpress I mean the self-hosted kind.  Wordpress.com is just like Blogger and the rest of them.  Using the self hosted Wordpress has so many features.  I have heard Joomla was good, but that seems to be the dark side of the force and I don’t want to cross over.

There are plenty of blogging platforms that you can use to be successful.  Heck, one of my friends makes a killing from Squidoo, but the best part about Wordpress is all of the add ons that you can use.  I’m not sure if Joomla does that, they probably do, but that is what makes Wordpress great.

  • I totally vote for WordPress.

  • I use Blogger and have found it easier to use than WordPress, particularly regarding adding images. The pluses of Blogger is that it is owned by Google so (in theory), it better relates to other Google-owned applications (for higher SEO), Google+, Feedburner (for emailing and RSS feeds). Also, (and I may have this wrong), but it’s easier to monetize without cost or change of blogging format than it is with WordPress.

That all being said, WordPress has more themes and add-ons.

  • WordPress – It has many themes, plugins & doesnt take much take to publish site online.

  • I have used both, Blogger more. I have a client who wants to put galleries on and I don’t see a lot of options for galleries. Any suggestions?
