Which is your Favourite Social Network to Drive Traffic to Your Blog (14 posts)

  • There are plenty of social networks out there and I think it is pretty difficult to run after all the social networks.

    Would you like to share:

    1. Your Favourite Social Network to Drive Traffic to Your Blog
    2. Your Industry or Niche

My favourite social network is Google + and my niche is Social Media Marketing Consultancy.

    Happy Networking

  • Hmmm that’s a tough question because it makes me face up to what we are (or are not doing) right with our social media.

I would have to say that my favorite social network should be LinkedIn but currently Twitter probably sends us more visitors.

My industry is web development and online marketing for copier dealerships.

  • My favorite network, and the one that drives most traffic to my blog, is Twitter. I blog about travel marketing, so using relevant hashtags has been a great way to generate readership.

  • Without question, the motherlode for me has been StumbleUpon. Not so much for consistency but when it hits, it’s like a jackpot in Vegas.

Facebook is very much up there for shareability too.

Google+, Twitter outpace LinkedIn. At least for me. It’s funny what you think is going to do the most referring but the data ends up surprising you. And the data doesn’t lie!

  • I agree with Dan about Stumbleupon. I usually do very well there, but sometimes it can really get crazy. I like Twitter,Facebook and LinkedIn much better for making and furthering connections, but I don’t get as many blog hits from them.

  • For the Comercial Insurance industry, we use LinkedIn the most to drive traffic to our blog.  This is because we have multiple other companies we oversee as partners, so we learned that by uploading the blog posts there, we were able to have our partners also in turn share the post giving us a huge reach throughout the LinkedIn community on a national level.

  • Facebook no question.  recently started doing this manually for a guaranteed time release (vs auto syndication)

then i tweet is manually using bit.ly and then it auto updates my linkedin status.

    :)

  • Most of my stuff is more B2B so LinkedIn does well, with Twitter in 2nd place.  StumbleUpon sends pretty high traffic but it doesn’t tend to stick much so I take it with a pinch of salt.

Facebook and G+ are way behind.

Rana what a great timing – I was just checking our Google Analytics when I saw your question.

For us Linkedin is the best source of traffic but YouTube is quickly catching up.
Facebook runs 3rd with Google+ and twitter is almost non-existent re a traffic source.

What’s interesting is that the bounce rate from all the social media sites has been coming down over recent months and on average it’s around 37% – not sure if that is good or not but it’s a lot better than 6 months ago!

@danonbranding Dan I wish I had your secret about StumbleUpon – is there one?

  • Thank you guys for sharing your secrets :) @amnuaibeckenham @adigaskell @dextereugenio @matthewoneill @jenniferwagner @danonbranding @fredericgonzalo @johnpulley

This is so helpful for all of us to know what is working and what is not.

    Isn’t ?

  • @amnuaibeckenham, I wish there was something magical/scientific for how I pulled right on the StumbleUpon slot machine but really all I did was create something that a person on that network deemed shareable. I didn’t know or predict that it was going to be shared to the extent that it was, but it was a right place-right time-right content kind of combo that worked in my favor with it. That in turn got shared with a lot of other people who found it shareable and continued the momentum. Sometimes I don’t know how I get on that wave but I just enjoy the ride when it happens.

Guys I asked the same question from:

Chris BroganJay Baer Neil PatelKristi Hines and few others

check out their answers here: Social Media Marketing

Hope you will find it interesting :)

  • @rshahbaz Very interesting read, Rana. Thanks for sharing!

  • @rshahbaz

For us it has been Facebook and LinkedIn. We just can’t seem to go wrong with those two!
