What is the best plugin to use that automatically emails to the commenter (5 posts)

I just recently read about the replyme plugin. When I went to download it, wordpress states in has not been updated in 2 years and may not work with the newer version of wordpress. Does anyone have another plug in that will do the same?

@designeddecor I use Subscribe to Comments (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments/). It sends an email to commenters who subscribe to a thread, allows them to unsubscribe or change their email easily, and lets you see who is subscribed to what posts in your admin dashboard.

Thank you gals for bringing this up, as this was on my last year’s wish list.
It never ceases to amaze me… whatever you want to do in WordPress, you bet there’s a plugin for it… and most times for free.
I’ll check these out asap.

I agree with @kristi-hines on the subscribe to comments – I’ve been using this on a few of my sites.
I’ve also been trialing a free plugin called “Thank me later” which sends out a thank you email when someone comments – you can customise the emails that are sent and include your social links and possibly a call to action too.
