What is the best platform used to create a Blog site? (12 posts)

Topic tags: Blog, Wordpress
  • Mi opinion is that the best platform is Wordpress. What is your opinion?

  • @ask2drmary Both Wordpress and Blogger are good and both have their own advantages and features. It is up to you and your requirements. However from i personally like wordpress and that’s why i use and recommend it over blogger.

    Thanks!

  • I’m also a Wordpress fan

  • I third the Wordpress vote!

  • Both are great -  @ask2drmary

Blogger is easier to design with and WP has a great admin area with plug-ins.

For me, at this point – it’s a tossup.

If you are very very new to blogging try out Blogger first, get familiar with it and see what you can do.  Then, later if you find you think you want to do much more with your site, you can always switch to WP.

I know some very savvy folks who have stayed with Blogger and made a splash and would never consider switching to WP too.

  • I’d go with Wordpress.org self hosted blog using your own domain name.  I’d always recommend people use Wordpress right from the word go.  It may not be the easiest to get to grips with, but once you’ve mastered it, it really does come into its own regards functionality and design.

  • I started with Blogger , great to learn

    Then learnt Wordpress- good.

But frankly , @ask2drmary , if you use just 1 blog , blogger is best with YOUR domain

  • Blogger is easiest, and Google Sites is still available as far as I know.

People love WordPress. I am familiar with Weebly and Zoho with drag and drop tools that make construction fast and easy.

Whatever you do, purchase your own domain, giving the name serious thought, research, and sending it to folks here for feedback.

One drawback of Weebly is that you can’t move or download it, so heads up there. I love it though. Zoho, blogger, and Google Sites have the Google Connection which, I believe gives you an SEO head start.

Oh, one think I love about WordPress and hate about Weebly – commenting method, blog membership, etc.

Don’t know if that helps but feel free to ask me if you are interested in any of it.

  • Definitely WordPress, but Blogger has a high place and priority as a satellite blog that links back to your main site. It’s association with Google gives it that little extra umph, I think. Anything that helps your author avatar show up more in the SERPs can only help.

But as your main website or blog… definitely WordPress. Got to OWN that piece of online real estate, for sure. :)

I don’t think google sites is still available

  • @ask2drmary- many use joomla [bit complicated] , but drupal also looks very good.

  • I started blogging on Typepad and really enjoyed it. After that I created a Wordpress blog and just blogged for the heck of it. All this was just to gain experience. Unfortunately my blogging has dried up due to work commitments. I found it very time-consuming although it has its advantages.
