What is The #1 Reason That You Are Blogging ? (18 posts)

  • Having a clearly defined goal and a strategy for achieving it is paramount to the success of any business. It gives you focus and allows you to decide whether a new opportunity will help or hinder you in reaching your outcome.

  • To share with businesses all that is out there that can help them. I am amazed at antiquated many businesses still are and our blog wants to reach out to them and help them learn all that is available on the web.

    Don

  • Give value away and help others. I can’t agree with @donpurdum any more.

One aspect of online biz that I love, is that success on the web is spread through each other!

  • Agree with @louisdagosto and @donpurdum What you blog should be helpful to others. In other terms, you are also helping to demonstrate some thought leadership in your markets, as you expand you ideas and knowledge.

Blogging is one key way I advise clients to help develop (or begin) that thought leadership position. But, once undertaken, you must be consistent.

  • @joanmuschampfagnani @louisdagosto @donpurdum Totally agree with you on this one. I blog because I like to write, want to give free information, and give people a place to respond and/or talk about off-the-wall subjects they otherwise might not mention. Learned that by doing a lot of radio. People are sometimes more comfortable asking questions of strangers who can’t see them. Great topic, guys! Best,

  • in answer to the OPs question.

    “i love it”

pure and simple.  its not about business or personal gratification, i just love writing.

  • To make money? Oh wait, that’s not it. Haha. I blog because I was sad/frustrated/confused to repeatedly hear small business owners and independent contractors and even some marketers say they “don’t know where to start when it comes to social media marketing.” By blogging about the basics, I can hopefully help them figure it all out and use social networks to grow their businesses. I learn something new every day, and with the blog, I can give back!

On a personal level, I blog because it forces me to write. I was a tech writer and journalist for years, but ended up moving into the graphic design and then marketing management arenas. I miss writing, and I miss being really good at it. It is one of those skills you have to work at every day, and by having my own blog, I am motivated/inspired/forced to write more often… which I love!

  • So people blog because they want to help people, because they love to write, because in writing you sort out things in your own head and learn stuff too… These are all reasons why I blog too
    BUT
    Here’s a supplementary question….

Do you have  a strategy? Is your writing leading somewhere? Are you leading your audience to buy something from you?

That could be a service you offer or it could be a product – digital or not –

If your blogging has no structure or direction, your audience will not be progressing towards a predetermined outcome.

I’m thinking out loud here but I’m sure your get the gist of what I’m driving at

Please give me your 10 cents… It could be worth a dollar to me :)

  • @roryramsden You might find some good answers in this thread too!

  • @Kristi Hines Thanks for the link… Do you blog with a purpose?

  • Because now I started I am driven to continue. As soon as one post is out, the next one is clamoring to be written.

  • Kristi,

I agree. Thanks for the thread. I’m about ready to start blogging and I need all the help I can get. : )

  • I started back in college as a way to actually keep track of websites that I used as inspiration for my digital media degree. I never thought I would end up doing it outside of college in my career, as the “online expert” here in the office. Now I do my companies blog as well as my own personal one. If there are any commercial insurance agents on this site, message me and Ill link you to my company blog. Everyone else can easily follow my personal life by linking to my blog here. I think I have a very interesting life and the stories that come from it I like to share because I think they are very humorous…often with some sort of meaning behind them just as a little food for thought for the readers.

  • @roryramsden @donpurdum @louisdagosto @joanmuschampfagnani @stonepeople @dextereugenio @socialamateur @abigailgorton @kristi-hines

Like all of you, I blog because I like to help people.
…And because I can’t help myself; I am compelled to write.

  • I am in the beginnings of blogging and am finding the main reason for me is that I believe that I have quality information, creative solutions to problems and a high ethical standard that can contribute to bettering the industry and readers alike.

I have yet to make my first post and just started on wordpress.  I will be adding to my profile in the near future once I have a strategy and precise focus on my market.

  • A lot of my posts are interviews and profiles of elite athletes – I enjoy connecting with and learning about the subjects of my posts and finding a way to share their stories with my readers.

  • SEO to support my primary business website – and it works!

  • I started my blog because I felt there were topics not being covered adequately in my niche, and also to help others and connect with others.
