What about RIO for Reader Interest Optimization… for better and more fair ROI Return on Investments?
What shall our next acronym be?
And about that 8th grade writing level… It use to be that journalists were taught to write on an 8th grade level for newspaper reporting because that IS what research showed to be the average READING level ability of average newspaper readers. However, with the influx of more and varied immigrants here in the USA, and a struggling public school system that must teach English as a Second Language to students whose native countries’ average time in school doesn’t surpass the 8th grade, those “average” English reading levels have actually gone far below 8th grade.
That is something to definitely keep in mind as you write for the web… where English is easily misunderstood often in REAL time discussions on your website, comments, Facebook, Twitter, etc. It’s a challenge, to be sure. And one that should make everyone ponder their words and whether they can be misconstrued in any foreseeable way.
Good point bringing that up, Jules.
