It helps you improve your writing and the speed that you can produce messaging. It also helps you strengthen your ability to input content into a content management system (which is always a useful skill).
And I agree with Kristi, one of the best reasons to blog is that it really helps you build your authority brand in your niche.

SEO. Blogging extends the reach of your brand in search engines. Your will gain exposure because you can show up in search results for keywords outside of what your normal static content will bring in. An example would be if you sell hair brushes, you might want to write a blog about shampoo just to extend your reach.
