  • Has anybody here started a tribe or in a tribe on Triberr?

Has it helped increase your readers? How did you recruit your tribe?

It looks like it could be effective, but would like to hear 1st hand how it has helped others.

  • @rhifarrell Never heard of it until I read it from you here. I just checked out the web site, seems interesting. Will follow this thread to see what others will have to input on this one ;-)
    Cheers,

  • its been around a while and when it was introduced, it was a big thing.

im not sure if it is now (i hope it is, it was a great concept) and am willing to accept any invites from anyone in a cool tribe  :D

  • @rhifarrell I learn something new everday. Like @fredericgonzalo I had not heard of it.

  • @rhifarrell Hi Rhil!  I wrote two posts on Triberr a while back about how I use it (http://kikolani.com/how-i-use-triberr.html) and some data on Triberr traffic vs. what was actually showing in Google Analytics (http://kikolani.com/post-case-study-triberr-visits-vs-google-analytics.html).

Triberr used to have a system you could either automatically tweet other member’s posts or manually approve other members posts.  I went with the manual option.  Although I felt like the tribes I joined has similar minded people, there were a lot of times I didn’t tweet people’s posts because they were just not up to par with what I normally share with my audience.  Not that they were bad, just not the right fit.  Because of the need for reciprocity, a lot of people wouldn’t tweet my posts either.

I think since I stopped using it, they had to switch their system to fully manual due to Twitter’s TOS.  I’m not sure how the results are now that people have to dedicate some time to manually approving posts vs. let it automatically update their Twitter account.  I got my best traffic from the people who automatically let everything through.

Probably the best result for me was meeting some great people in the tribes that, even though I’m not using Triberr anymore, I’m still lucky enough to be connected with just on Twitter.

  • I was on Triberr a while ago, but then they went through some kind of overhaul and it disconnected by Twitter account. I can’t seem to get it connected again, which is quite frustrating.

I enjoyed being a member of a small tribe in the past. It was a great way to share content. I would certainly be more apt to participate in larger tribes now that automatic tweeting is not an option. @kristi-hines is right on – some posts, even ones from bloggers you enjoy – just aren’t a fit.

If anyone has had problems re-connecting your Twitter account and knows how to fix it, let me know. (Or I could just stop being lazy and email their support team. Haha.)

  • @kristi-hines Kristi, thanks for the links to your articles.

  • @rhifarrell   @fredericgonzalo @melissareyes  @joanmuschampfagnani @dextereugenio

I’m currently on triberr. When I was not on triberr i had 200 followers. By being invited into a tribe my reach went from 200 to 1.3 mill. So suddenly my blog post went out to 1.4 mill instead of 200 followers. I’m not complaining as my stats went through the roof. I have not been blogging for almost a week now but when I was blogging I got between 30 and 50 new followers every day. That’s 10,950 – 18,250 followers in year if it continues. I’m being invited to a few other tribes so I can possible get to 3 mill followers.

What @kristihines is referring can be a problem if people are invited in indiscriminately. I’m in a Social Media tribe and it’s not always that everybody stays on topic. But since I have so few followers I’m more interested in getting more followers than staying 100% on topic when I approve other member’s blog posts.

I would be happy to start a tribe if 1) we can agree on the topic 2) we can find people with lost of followers to join us 3) if everybody provides quality content.

  • Never heard of it either. This sounds like a great place to find followers. My subject is not social media, though, it is cooking and a variety of other subjects. Would it as helpful for me? @jorgenpoulsen @rhifarrell

  • @deairby @rhifarrell Yes it will be helpful to you if there is a tribe (group) which covers the same subjects as you. The chief of the tribe decides if he wants you as a member.

    Hope that helps.

    Jorgen

  • I’ll check it out, thanks. @jorgenpoulsen

  • I was on 2 tribes on tribrr when all the tweets were automated. I switched mine to manual because I wanted control over what I tweeted but everyone in my tribes used automated and never even looked at the site.

When Tribrr switched to completely manual, my tribemates pretty much gave up. They didn’t like having to check the site every day to see what to tweet. So that was pretty much it for me. I’ve thought about finding new tribes, but haven’t yet. You really need to be in a tribe with people with very similar interests because you don’t want to tweet just anything.

  • @deairby @jenniferwagner

Hi Jennifer I can understand that you gave up if nobody approved your posts but your tribe members couldn’t have been that smart. I go in once a day, perhaps twice and it takes me less than 1 minute to approve all posts.

In exchange I get my blog posts tweeted to 1.2 mill twitters instead of the 500 followers I have.

I think perhaps your chief was a bit lacy.

Sorry but I don’t really get why anybody would leave a tribe unless he or she had to approve too many posts which were off-topic. But that’s where the chief comes in.

Anyway, I’m not too intelligent but I do know that I had 14 followers 4 weeks ago and as of right now I have 464 followers that’s a 3,300% increase and my last blog post is 15 days old.

  • I sent you a personal message with questions about this…. help @jorgenpoulsen

  • @jorgenpoulsen

Believe me, I tried to tell them how easy it was, and some of them tried for a little while, but little by little it dropped off more and more until it pretty much died out. It might be that we all have many followers and tribrr was just additional help but not that important and many of us had many of the same followers anyway.

  • Ok Perhaps it was bound to happen but I doubt that with 135 mill twitters that you had that many in common.

  • I was in a tribe and the situation was similar to what a few others have had – when they switched to manual the tribe I was in fell apart. However, when the tribe was together it did help increase the exposure of my blog significantly.

But, the nice thing is once you are in a tribe you can also start 3 of your own tribes. I didn’t take advantage of that until just recently, and I am forming my own tribe and only inviting people I already know fit in.

Here’s a suggestion for all of us. As we get to know each other better here on SME perhaps we can form some of our own tribes. I have the ability to form 2 more tribes, and could maybe add a couple more to the tribe I am in the process of forming. The one I am forming is called Marketing Symphony and is geared to bloggers who understand and promote the fact that effective marketing is built on the premise of an integrated strategy rather than disparate parts. Like a great symphony all of the individual parts play together well when part of great marketing plan.

Anyone interested in forming tribes from our membership here? Let me know.

  • @jorgenpoulsen Wow, those are impressive stats, Jorgen! I started my blog under a year ago, and I post once per week in French, once per week in English (or at least, I try to). Called “Travel and Marketing 2.0″, by blog is, as you would have guessed it, about social media, tourism and travel marketing in the era of social & mobile. Here is the link.

I will investigate further into Triberr, but if you think my topic is relevant to your tribe, please do invite me ;-)

P.S. Just opened up an account, so wish me luck!

  • @phil_lauterjung Hello Phil, I’d be interested in joing your Marketing Symphony tribe. You can look me up on Triberr, I just joined a couple of minutes ago, so my profile is pretty blank… ;-)

  • @PhilLauterjung Hi Phil, I’m always happy to join tribes run by serious people who understands the value of keeping tribe members on a straight and narrow. My blog is http://www.thecatalystpartnership.wordpress.com. Let me know if you’re interested in inviting me. My Social Media profile can be found here http://www.xeeme.com/jorgenpoulsen

@FredericGonzalo I’m sure it’s relevant but I can’t invite you – only the chief can. You forgot to put the link to your blog. Could I also have your twitter handle?

    Jorgen

  • @jorgenpoulsen Here is the link to my blog and my twitter handle is @gonzogonzo

    Thanks,

  • @phil_lauterjung I’d like to join your tribe if you are still inviting

  • @abigailgorton Hi Abigail, thanks for your interest in joining our tribe. I looked at your blog and it looks like you would fit in well. However, I couldn’t find a Twitter account for you. The way Triberr is set up Twitter is the primary means of distributing our blog posts. Could you let me know if you have a Twitter account and what your handle is? Thanks.

  • Thanks Phil, I have been a slooowww convert to Twitter but this might be the kick that I need to finally get going… I have a miniscule number of followers right now but I am ready to step up and do better. @agortonwebsites
    @phil_lauterjung

  • hey ya’ll….since Im the Founder of the damn thing, I figured I’d come in and say hi.

Thank you all for so many kind words and I’m very happy Triberr is working for so many of you.

If I can help in any way or answer any questions you might have, just lemme know :-)

  • @dino-dogan Welcome! If you look through the faces in this thread you’ll see that a few of us have joined Triberr in the last week. Thanks for coming by – I don’t think I have questions quite yet – just trying to get myself picked into a tribe!

  • Thnx @abigailgorton

As a former SME hanger-on and an Author of several SME articles, I think it’s fair to say that I’m pretty familiar with the SME audience.

You guys are all experienced marketers, very savvy online and off, and always interested in new ways of branding your social media content.

Triberr has released the coolest thing since sliced bread yesterday I think you guys will go gaga over. It’s about creating your very own Twitter Client App. It takes 5 minutes and it’s very easy, and only available to Triberr members.

Everything you need to know is in this post  http://triberr.com/blog.php?post=24424

I would love some feedback and I need experienced marketers to chime in about the value of it. So please, dont hold back.

  • @dino-dogan Sounds exciting!  :)

  • Thnx @kristi-hines,

I was really apprehensive about releasing it into the wild. There are so many things that could go wrong give the fact that the human has to setup an interplay between Triberr and Twitter.

But the feedback has been amazing and everyone is finding it really easy to set up.

Btw, I’m in Tucson. We need to get together before I head back to the east coast.

  • @dino-dogan I’m about two hours north of there… how long are you in AZ?

  • @kristi-hines I’ll be in Tucson till summer or till I get bored with it. Whichever comes first :-)

  • Hey @phil_lauterjungI would also be interested in joining your tribe if you think my blog would fit the criteria!

I definitely remember reading a bit about Triberr a while ago but never had my blog running at the time. Excited to give it a shot!

  • I am looking to join a tribe about leadership, mentoring, self-development.  If you know of any in that area I would be thrilled to be a part.  @craigbooker on Twitter.

  • Hi @craigbooker,

I run a tribe on leadership that might be of interest.  Need to get some more bones before I can invite people though.  Waiting for @dino-dogan to sort out a way for me to give him some cash so I can buy bones :)

  • I signed up for Triberr recently and it seems like they have made alot of changes, but it’s very cumbersome. Way too complicated to get mass interest IMHO.

  • Aren’t you in a tribe of social media minded individuals right now?

    @brianmcf

  • As Kristi Hines said. When it was new, it was great and then they went nuts and lots of changes that didn’t sit well with bloggers.

Many left, but it’s still going.

  • I use it but I don’t think they are developed enough for a large rush of people.  The interface is a little buggy and it’s hard to navigate I feel.

  • @jenniferwagner The same happened to me due to the change my tribe mates stopped using it

  • Just an update… Triberr is more stable than ever.., it is still run by a couple of guys next to their regular jobs.

By now it is a thriving community (I’m not sure how many people are on it).
The idea and the philosophy still apply. And yes, it did increase my traffic and I do have a nice community on Triberr.
I would not drop it for anything….

If you are a blogger.., you need to be on Triberr.

  • I just tried using it – i.e I signed up and added a blog, then it crashed out with a PHP error.  I’ll try again a few days.

  • @rogiernoort completely agree with you.

Triberr is a must for any serious blogger.
