Trending Blog Recommendations? (9 posts)

  • Hi there! I’m new to the blogging world, in terms of creating a blog for a large audience. (Besides me and my friends) I’m even gaining more knowledge by working in the affiliate marketing world.

I was just wondering if you guys have any recommendations for trending or JUST timeless blogs that anyone who is anyone is reading.

    Direct messages are welcomed :)

Nice to see you jump right in, Constance! A big welcome to the Networking Clubs.

I’m hoping Kristi Hines, our expert Blogging Club Leader, takes notice of your question. She is always a font of useful information and links.

As I said in my email, for affiliate marketing I like to follow PotPieGirl Jennifer Ledbetter and Travis Sago, two very down to earth, folksy, and very smart marketers with an eye to providing tremendous value to their readers.

On the high end of the scale, I also like to follow Mike Koenigs and Brandon Bruchard… both overdeliver value on just about everything… with Mike focusing on high-end cross-channel marketing and Brandon helping everyone produce products based on their expertise.

To me, trending may be fun to watch, but timeless advice from timeless leaders is sure to help now and later. The four I mentioned are in it for the long haul.

I recently, however, ran across a gamechanging (for me) inexpensive seminar by John S. Rhodes called Juggernaut Expert. I don’t have a clue what that means, lol, but his talk completely changed the focus of what I do everyday, and as a result, I’m 100 times more productive and actually have profitable work product at the end of my day each day to show for it. I bought it through Chris Munch on MunchWeb, I think, for less than $10.00… perhaps it was a WSO from WarriorPlus. Take copious notes. You’ll need them to refer back to later.

Since then, I have read anything Chris Munch recommends… and every bit of it has been extremely helpful. I watched closely how he structured all his offers, his free reports, etc., and his methods are so professionally and full of merit… well, like I said… I go read or study everything he recommends. I especially liked his 7 part series named something like “What I Would Do If I Had to Start Over” or something like that. Very solid advice, unlike any I’d read before.

At this point, I’m not impressed by the WOW factors, the shiny objects that distract my attention or waste my time. I’m focusing only on those things that can help my business move forward the fastest and most effectively.

Just some of my thoughts… hope they help.

  • @constancewong First off, great suggestions by @atlantarobin :)

My source for the top blogs in almost any topic is http://alltop.com/ – they have just about everything from A to Z, including a section on Affiliate Marketing (http://affiliate-marketing.alltop.com/).

After Alltop, the next stop should be http://technorati.com/ – you can use the search to find the latest blogs with post about affiliate marketing or latest posts on affiliate marketing (http://technorati.com/search?return=sites&authority=all&q=affiliate+marketing&x=7&y=16).

Last, but not least, is Google Blogsearch - http://www.google.com/blogsearch. You can use that to search the latest blogs on any topic.

Hope these help you to find the top trending blogs in any subject!  :)

  • @kristi-hines Miss Kristi, you always have the best links. Thanks so much, again and again!

  • Constance, you came to the right place to learn and have already heard from two of the great minds you will find on here. Welcome! I’m guessing you are signed up for the SME newsletter http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/ Don’t know if this fits your question but the first article is about trends. @atlantarobin @kristi-hines @constancewong

  • @constancewong: If you’re asking about which blogs bloggers-in-training should read, definitely check out copyblogger (http://www.copyblogger.com/blog/) and problogger (http://www.problogger.net/blog/). The guys who run those blogs do it as their full-time job, and are recognized industry experts.

If you had a question about marketing blogs more generally, let me know!

  • @atlantarobin

This is all very helpful! Thank you so much for such a lengthy and in-depth response. I will definitely be taking a look at the websites and bloggers mentioned. Just looking at PotPieGirl’s site, I see myself loving her. Funny and to the point :)

  • @kristi-hines

Thanks so much for your response! I looked at Alltop.com and it is amazing. It’s definitely what I’m looking for and a big step forward in my research :)

  • @lukaspleva

Great! Thank you so much for your response. I’m interested in “bloggers-in-training” blogs, as well as marketing blogs! I’m working at two ends lately. I’m creating sites to sell affiliate products, as well as writing blogs to catch a solid following and attract guest writers. Things are a bit crazy!

I will definitely be checking those websites out. Thanks again! :)
