Top Social media analytics tools (10 posts)

  • What are the top free or paid social media analytics tools used for analyzing the major social networking sites like Facebook, twitter,Youtube, etc.

Please share your hands on experience on the tools that you are using for personal or business purposes.

  • @anoob I primarily use Google Analytics to see what social media traffic is coming to my website and whether that traffic leads to conversions. You can learn more about how to use the social media analytics part of GA in this post here at SME: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/google-analytics-social-reports/

  • I use SBI! software for my site, they provide a neat list of all referrals each day so it is simple for me to analyze social media results. At this stage I am not really working on social media for results, one day I will have to spend a lot of time studying the excellent resources in this site to decide what approaches to use.Kristi, that was a great reference page you posted.. thanks

  • great link.. thanks.. being a newbie.. have not used any tools yet.. what a maze to work through..

  • Roma…you said it best. What a maze! But I must say it’s a bit of an adventure too. (:

  • It depends on what type of analytics you want to see.

If you want to see what social traffic is coming to your site and how it potentially leads to conversions then Google analytics is the way to go (Kristi’s link explains this perfectly).

If you just want visibility of where and who is sharing your links then topsy.com is a nice free tool that gives you results back from Twitter and Google plus.

Socialmention.com is another to try, this does pull in information from blogs, comments and various other places.

  • Using sprout social at the moment but I feel like I’ve taken it to the peak of its powers and that its not far enough.

  • I mainly use Google Analytics these days. I still use Sprout Social for quick stats about my social networks, however I’m more interested in which networks are bringing traffic to my website – which is where Google Analytics has the advantage.

  • I just published a new blog post today on my picks for Free Twitter Analytics Tools.  Have a look:
