Storify for your blog? (13 posts)

  • Curious if anyone is using Storify as a way to curate articles, videos, etc for their blog?  I ran across it about a year ago and seemed interesting but was not real “user friendly” for a novice like myself so forgot about it.  Then this fall several articles came out about how Storify had made some changes, went back and took a look and really liked it.  Started using it for some of our blog articles where I am trying to pull together different takes on a subject.  You can pull your story together, publish then embed it into your blog.

The question I have for the reader is…so is anyone else using it?  If not why? In addition to doing my “normal job” in the non-virtual world I read a lot of other blogs and have not seen anyone else using it.  Which makes me wonder if there is some issue out there with using Storify I am not aware of.

Any input would be helpful and appreciate thoughts of folks who are out there blogging for a living!

  • I’ve not really encountered storify yet. Will check if out. Anyone else?

  • @glengorham @asbtdc_asu
I hadn’t heard of storify until here so I will take a look at it.

  • Thanks Rebecca let me know what you think am interested in other folks opinions of it.

  • Sounds interesting… never heard of it. Look forward to checking it out.

  • Well here is an example of how I used storify for a blog we wrote for our small business readers about Pinterest.  Hope this doesn’t seem like I am promoting my blog just an example of how I used it.  With so many folks talking about Pinterest and so many interesting takes by some good bloggers, it just seemed like pulling them together in Storify was a good idea.   http://www.asbtdc-asu.com/pinterest-marketing-tips-for-arkansas-small-businesses/

Plus you get to put your own text in as well.  Again, appreciate the thoughts of any of you readers who are “pros” in the blogging world.  Thanks

  • @asbtdc_asu …It looks to me like you made good use of Storify in your blog. I registered with Storify a while back but never could grasp the concept or value. The way you use it is definitely intriguing. Will be interested in other thoughts.

  • Thanks Jay that one was probably too long but wanted to give our folks options to look at especially since my small businesses don’t have a lot of time.  I do like the fact you can pull in Twitter, videos and photos as well.  Am sure you can “wear out your welcome” if you use it too much but when mainly trying to curate other folks articles and at the same time give the authors proper credit seemed like a logical tool.

I was just surprised I haven’t seen any other sites using it which got me wondering if I was missing something.  Thanks

  • @asbtdc_asu I tried using Storify a number of months ago and also found it unsatisfactory. Either that or I didn’t learn how to use it properly. I have also noticed that they have developed a plugin for Wordpress, but I haven’t tried it yet. Now I have something else to add to my to-do list.

Nice job on the Pinterest post.

  • I had never heard of Storify, but it looks very interesting and perhaps very helpful for a few of my future posts.

    Thanks.

  • I’ve had Storify as a tab on my desktop for two weeks now. I plan to do something with it in the next few days – thanks for the little nudge. I will return and report.

  • I just attempted to try Storify. Purely exploratory. Got a message that Storify was overloaded and unable to help. Somehow that made me feel good. As a writer I still have purpose!

  • Thanks to everyone who has responded.  Phil yes they have a plug in, in fact it was an article about the plug in that took me back over to visit.  Been using it since.  Given the work we do at a small business development center we help entrepreneurs and small businesses on a wide variety of topics so our blog articles cover a lot of topics (don’t have the luxury of just blogging on social media for example) so it provides a pretty easy way to consolidate a number of articles, blogs, video, etc. in one place to provide to our readers.  As example with all the discussion on Facebook page timelines rather than try to add my own to it, used Storify to pull a number of perspectives about Timelines and supply to our readers to let them decide… so it has been a good tool for us to use.  Just was curious from the “power” bloggers standpoint what their take on it was.  Thanks again and have a great weekend.
