We’ve just began a small blog that we use to announce news and industry-related information. This is our first time through a big holiday week. With many people off during the holidays, what are the thoughts about not posting during a week and skipping a post? (Granted this is a little too late for this year) We normally post on average two times a week.

This might be a little late, but if you chose not to post during a holiday week, then I would state that and say see you next year. Or re-post some of your 2011 posts of the year during that week. During this week, I actually posted some winetoons for enjoyment knowing many people are off the grid. Be creative with your audience.

Like Debbie said, you can always to a best <#> of articles from 2011, list them and link to them. And then say something like “Have a happy and healthy holiday season and we’ll catch up after the new year!” Something like that.
Or you can schedule posts to go out during that time, again recapping 2011 articles or your favorites or what you’re looking forward to next year.

@julihanshaw As previously mentioned, the last week of the year is a great time for recaps. I did one on my site that took about 15 minutes to put together that was just a list of ten of my favorite posts. It’s done really well for being posted during the holidays, and was simple enough. If you do get some new visitors, it’s a great way to let them get to know your blog better.

My big thing is that we didn’t post at all and I think that makes us look like we are not connecting. What is everyone’s thought on that?
