  • Hi All – I need a step-by-step guide on how to set up a wordpress.org blog from hosting till the very end of a final ready-to-use blog. I know it needs some technical background but just get me through it PLEAAAASSSSEE! thanks :)

  •  Hi Widian

Gavin Jerome marketed WP Setup Check list on the Warrior Forum a few weeks ago…..a comprehensive guide to setting up a Wordpress blog. That offer has now been closed but the email contact was support@wpsetupchecklist.com I imagine it is still available. A less comprehensive guide can be found in my own post at http://boostpensionsonline.com/category/creating-a-wordpress-blog/ Hope this helps. Best of luck. Ian

  • @widianothman Hi Widian.  I wrote a post a while back on resources for starting a WordPress.org blog, from domain names to plugins.  :)

  • Thanks everyone!! I keep hearing how awesome WordPress is compared to Blogger. I bought a domain last weekend and these are fabulous tips!!Laurie

  • Thank you all! it helped alot! :)

  • @widianothman Thought I’d throw in another great resource here, even though you’ve already gotten lots of good advice.  : )

(by the way, @kristi-hines blog post linked up above is great — really comprehensive and simple to understand!)

One other resource I’d like to throw out there is a series of 4 very short videos by David Risley on how to set up a blog in 4 steps. I was a student in David’s Blog Masters Club a few years ago, and I can personally recommend his easy to understand — and implement — instructions.

Here’s a link to his blog set up guide, with a video corresponding to each of the 4 steps (1-buy a domain, 2-get web hosting, 3-set up Wordpress.org, and 4-pick a theme) :

    http://www.blogmarketingacademy.com/blog-setup/

All 4 videos together will take less than half an hour to watch.

    Good luck!!

Where are you planning on hosting? Most hosting companies offer 1 cllick Wordpress installs so you don’t need to worry about databases, etc.

  • Hi – thank you for the rich answers!

I have another problem now, the thing is, i wanted to host the wordpress blog on our same host of our website: http://www.eastnets.com, but the website company tells us it is a windows host and does not support wordpress or is not good for wordpress (whatever that means :S), anyhow so they told me to look for another host for wordpress, so i went to use BlueHost, which is fine, but i want the blog to have the same domain: eastnets.com, how do i make it the same domain?

BlueHost tells me: write your domain = mydomain.com. but when i write eastnets.com it tells me it is already taken, so i went to anotehr option which bluehost asks which is: do you have a domain already? so i said yes and wrote eastnets.com, but i am afraid to go forward as it tells me: we will transfer your data to this new host, so i am afraid this will cause the website http://www.eastnets.com to go down if i go forward … i am making an sense? or it doesnt affect anyhting if i go forward with the hosting?

    please help! :(
