1 year, 4 months ago: I think it really depends on what you’re trying to achieve with your audience. If you’re looking for traffic, how-to’s and infographics are a great way to drive traffic. If you’re looking for leads (as an seo company I would assume so), I think educating on the importance of seo is a better way to go.
On my blog, I have a mixture of how-to’s, tips, infographics (that I do not make myself but do ask permission to use), informational posts “what is engagement?”, some inspirational “top 10 social media blogs”, etc. to drive traffic and leads.
I would suggest writing what you know because it flows much more easily and if you want to branch out, open your blog to guest bloggers that are experts in their area.
