Search Your Name In The Searchbar On The Upper Right & Peek Out Of The Maze (14 posts)

  • Greetings, Fellow Campers!

I was just sniffing around the maze here, looking for my cheese and blazing some new trails, when I scurried through a secret passageway that appeared before my curious little whiskers. I pressed the magic button, just as any little mouse would do, and found a whole new world. See what you find.

Search your own name in the SearchBar on the upper right of this page and check yourself out. Make sure you backspace and erase the word “search” if no results show up for you.

Then click on the green LIGIT logo in the upper left corner of the results page to read more about the system being use to track and evaluate the behavior of the readers/forum users here. Also read the buyout press releases and other info. Fascinating stuff.

Personally, I’m impressed and am very interested in reading some of the data and analytics collected here, as well as how and where LEGIT has used this in other venues before. Anyone have experience using LEGIT before?

Kind of sheds a whole new light, or rather, opens up a whole new series of questions about who owns data in a particular venue. Obviously, the data I’m typing right here now doesn’t belong to me… right?

    What do you think?

  • @atlantarobin The search system is the same throughout the entire website. It seems to do well with pulling up posts from the blog – I tried searching my own name a day or two ago and just got the posts I’ve written on the blog. If Ligit is pulling analytics, its because the forums are public. I doubt it’s any more / less than Google Analytics though.

I love how the search function responds. I saw so much more information than expected. Just made my little brain all excited thinking about all the great new ways this could be used. Seemed a bit more useful than Google, for my purposes at least.

  • @atlantarobin It does work much better than the base WordPress search.  I incorporated Google search into my blog for that reason.  :)

  • @kristi-hines

BTW, I love the fresh clean look of your blog. A good one to emulate in all respects.

Do you know if LEGIT is pricey? Didn’t look for that, but after noticing how well this works in here, I’m thinking it might be a good fit for a planned project I have.

  • @atlantarobin Thanks Robin!  I go with minimalism, mostly because I’m not that great at design.  :)

From what I can tell, they don’t charge publishers (blog owners) to install it, but they do charge people who want to advertise on other people’s blogs through their platform.  Publishers can also earn from the advertising.

Here are some pages to learn more about it…

  • @kristi-hines

Thanks for the links. Very helpful.

  • @atlantarobin @kristi-hines I’ll have to check this out. Interesting! Reminds me of The Truman Show movie….what goes on behind the scenes?

  • yes the truman show. but now that stuff is almost everyday stuff. they should do a sequel where truman now produces a (city) housewives reality show…

RE: LEGIT – Not liking that I can’t search and pull up forum topic titles I was looking for. Only searches by member name in the forums/club, Kristi? By anything else you know of or just by name?

  • This is interesting about the search. Any other interesting, Easter Eggs on the site?

  • @durkbarton

Durk, I keep bumping into all kinds of interesting experts, but the ongoing mystery surrounding the camper badges, the point system for interactions and involvement, and the earning of new badges with different names once certain points are attained give them my vote for best ongoing mysterious marketing campaign I’ve experienced in quite a while.

There’s a forum about that on here somewhere still receiving comments. The Leadership Board is pretty interesting, too. I mean no one knows yet where all that will lead, except we know the red below the badge has only half way reached the other side, so the mystery shall continue for now, with the highest known badge currently being that of Pacesetter.

  • @atlantarobin @kristi-hines

Google is starting to pick up the clubs content, slowly.

For example, try searching Blogging Club or the title of a thread

  • @mike-stelzner @durkbarton @deairby
Or how about searching for a wee bit of grand adventure.” I think we’ve all found a wee bit of that here, for sure. If Google doesn’t pick up on that, then we’ll just have to categorize our New Year wishes a bit more clearly to them, eh Rick?
