Requesting Guest Posts for Food-Cooking Blog. (30 posts)

  • Hiya SME Folks.

It’s been about 6 or 7 months since I requested this last (here at SME) and surprisingly no one came forward to do a guest post. I run the Prairieland Food Blog and it is about cooking-food-recipes and volunteering.

Do you eat?  Then you probably have recipes you like that you use often – we accept recipes and/or articles about cooking, food and saving money on your grocery bill.

We will include a short bio and LINK TO YOUR BLOG in the article and if you are a chef, cookbook author, etc. and your blog is about food in general we may add a permanent link on the resources page.  You can reply in this thread for conversation about this offer – all exposure is good, eh?

PLF Blog Homepage:  Prairieland Food Blog

Categories for this offer:  Cooking Food At Home  —  Recipes

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter.

    Eileen :D

  • E N Brown I have a couple of questions for you regarding posting for the Prairieland Food blog. The first of which is when I submit an article, recipe or another food, cooking, or culinary related post who owns the copy write and rights to the content of the post? The next think would be how often would you like me to add a post?
In case you have not seen the kinds of content I have written in the past here is a link to my blog, there are multiple categories so I do ask that you look around to get a better idea of the types of things I write about. http://classycateringcreations.com/blog
Oh one more thought, if you or anyone that knows food like you we are looking for guest bloggers as well. We do have a set of guidelines and a form that need to be submitted to the guest blog department for approval. Please see them at http://classycateringcreations.com/blog/guest-blogger-guidelines
Thanks again and have a fabulous day!
    - Chef Ricky

  • Hi Chef Ricky.

Good question on the copyright.  I’d say you still own the rights but for the most part, you wouldn’t be posting the same thing over and over, right?  Once something is posted at the PLF blog, I’d like to keep it there for future reference too. In other words, don’t send me an article and then in a couple of months decide you want me to take it down after I’ve already tweeted, FB, and G+ the thing.

I’ll get back to you on the guidelines after I’ve perused your blog.  More discussion later.

    Eileen :D

  • Hi Chef Ricky @ccateringc

We certainly don’t have anything as stringent as what you have for guidelines. We like recipes, cooking tips, food information in general.  We’re easy when it comes to guest posts. ;D

A recipe with a blurb (or not) would be fine. A short bio and whatever page you’d like us to link to at your blog and/or website. Two or three links – no more than that. I will peruse your blog and choose links to add to the intro or at the bottom of the piece/recipe as an added influence.

I write the intro to introduce you to our audience and you can include a picture or two, if you wish.

Send your article or recipe to me at buddyservices (@ gmail) and it will be posted within a day or two usually.  I’ll send you the link when it is live.

Pretty simple really!  Thanks for your interest – really appreciated.

Anyone else want to send me a recipe?  We could use some fall recipes!

    Eileen :D

  • @ccateringc

Forgot this:  You can submit an article or recipe at any time you wish – you’ll be sending them to ME to post at the blog.  There won’t be a specified section where you post though.

The PLF blog is a casual atmosphere with home cooking tidbits and our audience, although very diverse, are mostly customers of PLF and Volunteers in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

PLF is a discount food program for everyone, no income guidelines – the only requirement is that you are a volunteer, either in your community, church, school, college, club or other organization.  The median income of our audience is also very diverse.  From very low income to quite high income families and individuals.  Many of the customers travel extensively, but when at home, they contribute (and volunteer) their time to help others.

PLF is a win/win situation but is only in our area – KS-NE-OK  - If you’d like more history, send me a PM.

Again and for everyone submit articles/recipes to:  buddyservices, through gmail. Be sure to put PLF Blog Article/Recipe Submission in the subject line.

  • Hey, EB, here’s a new blog post for today: http://thebaronyork.wordpress.com/2012/10/15/pumpkin-cookies/  @supereb Yummy pumpkin cookies made just for you! Sorry I can’t send them for you to eat.

  • Hi Dea!  @deairby

WHY NOT?  I’d love to have yours and save the work in my own kitchen!  LOL

OK – I’m on it.  I’ll post the link here when I am done with the post.

    Eileen :D

  • Hiya Folks  @deairby @ccateringc

Here is the post entry made for Dea and her Pumpkin Recipe

I’ll also be adding a link to “A Dollop and A Pinch” on the “Cooking Links” page, sometime later today.

I am very informal with this blog as it caters to an older crowd and home cooks mostly.  Not slick – just common sense, no nonsense entries.

Anyone else interested in a guest post?  Recipe or Article?

    Eileen

  • Hi Dea @deairby

Here is the link page with your link at the top:

    Eileen :D

  • Great job, Super EB… thanks. Will send the “pink” coleslaw directly, soon. @supereb

  • @supereb Have you tried looking for guest bloggers at http://myblogguest.com?

  • Hi Kristi @kristi-hines

I try to find places I like first with people who are connected to me in some way. Mostly, there are not any surprises down the road (most of the time).  I will look at that, but don’t hold out much hope of blindly finding what I really want — connections to people who are committed and steadfast.

    Thanks!

    Eileen :D

  • Hi Dea - @deairby

Thanks so much for the original content!

Folks – Dea sent me an original article and recipe to post before she posts it at her own blog — thought to share as it is very timely:

Pink Slaw For Beast Cancer Awareness

Thank you for the Pumpkin Cookies recipe and this “Pink Slaw” article/recipe Dea!  Very, very much appreciated!

    Eileen :D

  • Thanks for the opportunity, SuperEB! @supereb

  • @supereb Not sure if you have one, but you could also have a Write for Us page  - something you link to in each of your posts and is clearly shown on the main menu so others who are fans will know you’re looking. :)

  • HI Kiristi  @kristi-hines

    Yes, we already have —

1 – A “Cooking Links” page on site, where I put those that contribute to the blog.

2 – There is also a sticky post on the home page with info about PLF (a 501 c3 org) and how to submit a recipe or article to the blog.

3 – A “recipe” page on how to use the blog and submit recipes/articles.

If I looked around I might find more places as that was something I did from the start – offer space to other bloggers.

“Write for us” sounds like a good idea though — we have enough followers but no one that seems interested much in writing or submitting recipes.  I’ve written plenty of articles for PLF but as we all know it is time consuming to research any area.  Recipes are something that anyone (even those who don’t write articles) can do.

Food is basic to everyone, so ideas for articles is not a problem. I just like to see variety and provide an outlet for homemakers to share recipes — I’ve got a ton of recipes here myself but don’t want to flood the website with just “me” either.

    Eileen :)

  • Hi Chef Ricky  @ccateringc

Good Guidelines – I don’t particularly need original recipes that have not been posted on the web.  I will write something (very casual) to introduce the person and make a graphic that contains the recipe along with one or two links to your blog and also place your name and your blogs URL in the graphic.

When someone copies the graphic to add to their cookbook notebook or box they’ll have your information there too.

    Eileen :D

  • Good Afternoon, I just saw this post. I don’t have a regular blog but I am the marketing person for a co-operative grocery store and we have our own tv show. ELFCO-TV

Episode 16 is outdoor cooking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jmw_tydsUQY&feature=g-user-u

    Episode 10 is a 20 minute stir fry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP1CnT-s0Gw&list=PL8B164A0F50CDAA5E&index=12&feature=plcp

We also have a local beer segment coming up where we make cake and cupcakes with craft beer.

We would love to be a guest. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested or need more information.

    Thank you
    Aimee

  • Howdy Eileen,

I am in the process of adding some recipes to my blog site…Take into consideration my site is undergoing some changes, so you are welcome to use the recipes, but
you would need to just link in general to my home page, not the page thhe recipes are actually on, as the indexing may change.

I have a fascination with Crock Pot and cooking for my small family of 2 (Hubby and I as we are empty-nesters), BUT due to my mom’s recent stroke, I’m cooking for 4.

Maybe there will be something you can use!

  • Hi All and @kristi-hines

Thanks to you ALL for your interest and as Kristi suggested I added a guidelines page to the blog. If you are interested – please peruse that page.

In the meantime I will check all the blogs in recent comments (above) and get back to you folks.

    Thanks!

    Eileen :D

  • Hi Aimee – @aimeewest

Great segments and YES – I’ll get with you soon on this.

    Hi Kim – @kim-steadman

Love crock pot recipes – sure – I will use at least one of those.  Thanks for the offer. :D

  • Thank you @supereb for getting back with me. I am so excited to get our segments scene by more people. Sorry it took me so long to respond we are putting together a massive Thanksgiving Sampling Extravaganza! and I have been busy gathering the supplies for our very own portable kitchen!! Oh I am so excited.

  • HI Aimee @aimeewest

Been pretty busy here too – I did look at your stuff and will use it and provide links.  I will send a PM soon!

I’m writing a series of articles for that blog now (in my ahem, spare time) and around D-Day I always have several I have to post (d-day this month is a week from this Saturday).  So next week I’ll be working on the newsletter again – it is a physical letter that goes out to all the Derby participants in the discount food program. Just one page front and back but we load it with info.

Last month I included Dea’s Pumpkin Cookies in the newsletter – you can view it here — http://prairielandfood.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/11-2012-oct-derby-pdf.pdf

There are no guarantees that you will ever appear in the newsletter though as we keep it to the one page.

    Eileen

  • Hello Eileen   @supereb

No problem. I understand how that goes. Good look getting all your writing done with the holidays.

    Aimee

  • Hi @aimeewest

We also had a death in the family this week – so baking and cooking has been where some of my time has gone (when I could have been sleeping).  That will all be over by next Tuesday so give me a little extra time – it may have to be the week after that.

Can’t do anything about the personal interruptions – we all have that stuff happen to us and I hope you understand.

Thanks — You might actually remind me in a week!

    Eileen

  • @supereb

Sorry to hear about the death in your family, I understand that tragedy all too well.

    Thank you, talk soon.
    Aimee

  • @supereb

Yes, I also had noticed this in the “How-to” section.

Unfortunately I do have a blog in Food niche. but that is in my local language & local food.

  • Eileen, I can’t believe I missed this great forum post when you posted it the first time! I commend you for the job you’re doing and the service you’re providing to both foodies and volunteers.

I’ve got a foodie blog on the horizon in 2013. I’ll bookmark this thread and follow up with you around the end of January. Sorry it’s not up yet.

Just wanted to tell you that  I love the way you share your heart, your community, and your taste buds all in one full swoop. That’s an art, sister. Kudos for doing all of that so well!

  • @kim-steadman @aimeewest @atlantarobin

    Hello Ladies.

I’ve had a hard time getting back to this thread!  I need to get many things done this week (and the week is running out fast) on that blog so I’ll be in touch very soon.

Two new websites in the process so once again fitting in around that work. -:O

    Eileen

  • @supereb

No worries I understand how that goes. Good luck with the new year. May you find a bit of time for yourself as well.

    Aimee
