”repackaged” blogs (11 posts)

  • What “works” have you produced that you are able to “repackage” for sale and how? For example, have you put together a series of blogs into an ebook or POD book that you sold or have you recorded an interview with an expert and then sold the recording as resource information or recorded an instructional video that is copied and sold? I want to get my 40 Days of Soup blog series put into a small pamphlet or ebook. Looking for some experienced advice.

No personal experience but I do have a friend – Candace Davenport – who publishes little books – you can check out her site here. No affiliate – just a friend whose blog I follow. The whole blog is about writing to get published. If you contact her,  tell her I met you online and sent you along.

  • @abigailgorton thanks, Abigail, you should invite her to join us, I’ll check it out

  • @deairby whether it is into an ebook or not, I believe good content should always be repurposed into different formats. People consume information in many different ways based on their preferences and lifestyle. It makes it challenging because it is time consuming, but it increases reach.

  • @deairby,

I write a monthly column for the business journal in my county, and I often use repackaged blog posts (or portions of them) in my columns.

I also teach workshops for a local community college continuing education program, and I use information from my blog posts during those workshops.

You don’t necessarily have to repackage a blog post as a product that you sell — you can also “sell” or promote your expertise by getting your posts in front of a larger or different audience than would normally visit your blog.

  • @deairby Darren Rowse of ProBlogger did a great job with repackaging. He did a course on his blog – 31 Days to Building a Better Blog.  He started it as a post on the blog and daily email.  Then he took the content from the posts / emails and made them into a workbook / PDF which is now on its second edition.

My suggestion is if you want to repackage posts on your blog as an eBook, add a little something extra to it that someone wouldn’t get while reading your archives.  Maybe it would be an update to the post, video accompaniment, webinar, private forum, etc.  Those extras make for great selling points!

My eBook on blog promotion includes some posts I have written on my blog as well as some information I haven’t published elsewhere.  I just used Microsoft Word to create it and saved it as a PDF.  Easy publishing!  :)

  • @laurachristianson @kristi-hines great info, thanks

  • I usually write series of posts on one topic and then move on to another one.  I  took my first series on  How Authors Use Amazon to Promote Their Books and made it into an eBook.  I  did additional research to add more content because I am constantly finding new information.  I gave it as a free gift to those who signed up for my monthly newsletter.  I plan to do another one soon and do the same thing on another topic.  There are all kinds of ways to repurpose blogs.  I like the idea of making the posts into articles for Squidoo and other article sites.  Another idea is to make them into a series of videos on your YouTube Channels.  The course idea is excellent as well.

  • I’ve heard of using Blurb and Blog2Print to help with packing posts into a book of some kind :D

  • @janisfriesler  Janice, wish I could follow you around and watch you in action! @blogsbyheather thanks for the info, I’ll check out Blurb and Blog2Print,

  • You can. LOL!  Just subscribe to my blog http://www.assistingauthors.com and sign up for my monthly newsletter.  There is a sign up on the sidebar and on my Facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/jfriesler  I will have a look at your blog as well.  Thanks for the connection.
