Rapid Sketching/Drawing Tool for Illustrating Narrated Video? (6 posts)

  • BEFORE my computer crashed 10 days ago (thanks, we’ve recovered now, I hope), I came across a mention of a kind of rapid sketching or drawing tool or ap for illustrating narrated videos.

I’ve seen these cool videos, usually for seo teams now that I think about it, that look like they paid a fortune to have an illustrator draw a continuous visual story that goes in sync with what the voice-over narration is saying.

Then the day before my computer crashed, I came across someone who mentioned an inexpensive, or maybe free, tool or service that can do this on the cheap. But now my memory fails me.

Anyone heard of this? Or know of a service who does this?

  • Sorry I don’t but subscribing to the thread! Those videos are very cool and if such a thing exists, I’d be all over it like white on rice!

    Cheers,

  • @atlantarobin @scottlinklater I may know someone who has used something like this, so I will ask and let you know.

  • @scottlinklater Honey, I jumped up and danced when I heard about this, so I am sooooo boohooing now, since that two week computer crash detour derailed me from finding out the rest of the story. I’m crossing fingers for good news for the both of us now…

@joanmuschampfagnani  Miss Joan, I’m borrowing that voodoo chant and throwing back at you, girl, as you go find your friend and bring back good news of great art and other things, tee hee. Fingers are crossed!

  • Aren’t they just sped up videos of people drawing on white boards? James Wedmore does some of this in his videos.

  • While I was hunting for someone on Fiverr.com, I remembered our quest here and typed in “stop motion” in the search bar. Up popped a whole bunch of freelancers who mostly do short video wrappers, intro/outro kind of vids, but at least a half dozen who do basic but nice stop motion “speed drawings” of logos and company names and short sentences. All for $5 each.

And yes, Judith, they’re basically just stop motion or sped up videos of people drawing words or cartoon or sketches, but not always on a white board.

There’s one where a toy lion or monkey rolls across a page, someone writes a message, and the animal gets all excited. Kinda cute. Various styles, various lengths up to 30 seconds, various degrees of professionalism, but all looked pretty good.

In lieu of a short Powerpoint, it would be cool to pay $20 and get a 2-minute stop motion vid instead. It keeps your eyes glued to that page. Kinda cool.
