pinterest? (103 posts)

  • Hi Robin,

I will start a new discussion on building a squidoo lens. I am still trying to figure this social media examiner website out as far as discussions and posts, but I will do it now, so keep an eye out for it. Thanks, Liz

  • I have been on Pinterest myself for well over a year. I’ve recently started a Pinterest account and boards for my employer. Feel free to check out what we are doing there. We are a private career school for real estate professionals.

Since our largest demographic is women from 35-60, I suggested we put our toe in the water on Pinterest. I made boards for our Faculty, For Green Buildings in the DC area (we offer a green certification) and for some of our text books we sell.

With the Pinterest Spam epidemic a few weeks ago we were attracting follower accounts with names like Serenity Garza and Autumn Estes who like to post content not suitable for a business environment.

I feel that Pinterest could easily allow us to report an account for spam rather than having to actually view the image and then report it. I tend to notice that these spam accounts have the exact same photos posted or they have only a few boards with a minimum number of pins. Some have lots of boards with one or two pins only. Most people who have been on Pinterest a while and curating or contributing content have well over 2,000 pins – so far none of these spammers do, but they are getting more sophisticated and one must be more discerning in viewing and re-pinning.

Recently it seems we have less of this nonsense going on and my follower count decreased. Apparently because all those spam accounts were thankfully deleted. Since I’ve been on this platform a lot (I don’t watch TV I pin…) I’ve logged a lot of hours and seen a lot of what strategies work. I’d be glad to take a look at your boards and make recommendations.

  • I watched a free webinar by Melanie Duncan from The Entrepreneuress Academy about Pinterest…blew my mind! I’ve already implemented some strategies for a client and will post the results in a few weeks to see if it helps drive traffic and convert to sales. http://pinterest.com/UnikaEffenne/accessories/
I highly recommend her Power of Pinning webinar/course for those interested in learning more:) http://www.facebook.com/EntrepreneuressAcademy.I'm not an affiliate, just sharing the love as I found this to be really good information:)
