Pinterest + Your Blog = Building Relationships with New Prospects (6 posts)

  • The way I use this social networking site will be different from the way you use it. You have to just test things out and find out what works best for you.

You can use Pinterest as a promotional tool and build your brand. You can use it as a research tool because you will be able to get an idea of what your target market is interested in.

This will allow you to take advantage of this information to effectively position your business to the right people.

If you are a blogger, make sure you include captivating images with your most valuable content.

Pin it to a specific board that will lead people back to your blog.

Keep in mind that you are using Pinterest as a way to build relationships with a totally new audience.

It is not about you or constant self promotion.

Create boards that give excellent recommendations to other people in your industry. Re-pin, comment, and like other people’s content on Pinterest.

Follow the pinned boards of the people you admire. This lets your audience know that you are a valuable resource for them and the people you recommend will notice your efforts.

More details about using Pinterest with your blogging efforts found via Google+ (Not being promotional, just more information)

For any of you that have been using it for some time to brand your products or services, please share your knowledge by commenting in the section below.

  • @staciewalker What I find amusing about Pinterest is that Mashable’s account is mostly self-promotion.  Last time I checked, most boards were filled with images from their blog posts.  http://pinterest.com/mashable/

  • @kristi-hines Thanks for your feedback. I am checking out Mashable on Pinterest now. Didn’t realize they had so many pins.

  • I love pinterest. It is a tremendous place to use for the wedding industry. I build specific wedding boards and personal boards. My bridal store and bridal blog are listed in the profile. I post pictures from both of my sites, but on a sharing level, not pushing a sale. It works so much better when you create a useful article/guide with images so you are giving something useful and when the hit your site, they can purchase products or services or learn more and save you for their wedding planning a bit later.

Food blogs do exceptionally well. I love to pin foods, desserts, drinks and recipes I create.

Crafting, DIY so any hobbies or things you have learned to do; sharing with the world and they love it. I have a board to collect those too.

At least 2-3 times when you pin, post them to Facebook and Twitter too to extend the reach. My pins do show up on my FB timeline too.

  • @bridalletter Nice Pinterest advice. I am happy that this medium is working for you. You are absolutely right about sharing a useful article along with the image. It works!

  • There’s a Korean newspaper’s pinterest.http://pinterest.com/kyunghyang/
They not only pin just images, but add some brief text from article, like this : http://pinterest.com/kyunghyang/it/
Of course attracting images work fine, but this approach looks good.
I know you don’t understand Korean, just look at the style.
