  • Welcome!

Thanks for visiting the Blogging club! If you are new to the networking clubs, here are a few things you might want to know.

Introduce Yourself & Learn About Other Members

If you’ve just joined the Blogging club, be sure to Introduce Yourself and read about your fellow members.

    Club Rules

Be sure to visit the Club Rules to learn proper networking clubs’ etiquette. This includes no blatant self-promotion or affiliate links! We’re ok with you sharing a link to your own blog or website if it is helpful for the discussion at hand or if you need help with something, but do it in moderation so you don’t get moderated! :)

    Club Features

If you need a guide to the features of the forum, be sure to visit the Getting Started Guide. If you need help with one of the following, you can jump straight to its section in the guide or just read the quick tips.

If you have any questions about how to do something in the club, please post them here – they might make good additions to our Getting Started guide! Be sure to mention my username (@kristi-hines) too!

Kristi, this forum is AWESOME and just what was needed. Thanks for posting this. It answers so many questions in one place. Very helpful.

I’ll be sure to redirect people to this forum in the future, as well as in some ongoing forums where this would be helpful.

Just curious; why did you want your name to be included in the same thread of discussions?

I am sure to learn a lot from these discussions.

  • Is this allowed?

I read the rules but am not sure about this item.

I run a recipe/article/foodie blog for a non-profit organization.  I’m looking for guest bloggers and would need to post the URL to the blog and a link to what a guest post looks like (this link to the blog of a guest posters article).

OR I’d like to swap a blog post for a blog post.  All would be free to swap or free to post.  The guest blogger gets a short bio, with one or two links to their own blog and/or website within the same article.

The blog in question has only a 3/10 Google PR (better than 0 – heh) but I wonder if this kind on thing is OK.

I’ve not seen any invitations so far, but don’t really see any rules against it.

So, is this kind of thing allowed?

    Thanks – Eileen – :D

  • @kristi-hines

Knock, knock, anybody home this morning?  See above request, sent last evening. Thanks!

I guess maybe the third time will be a charm?
Could someone, ANYONE, answer my question here:http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/blogging/forum/topic/new-to-the-blogging-club-or-have-a-how-to-question-check-here/#post-22446
    Thanks

  • @supereb Sorry, missed the earlier tag.  There’s a post on how to find guest post opportunities here: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/clubs/blogging/forum/topic/guest-blogging-opportunities-1/

I suggest that you make that kind of post on MyBlogGuest.com – that forum is designed specifically to connect guest bloggers to blogs looking for content writers.  :)

    Hi Kristi,

Long time no talk.  I’m having problems with random code that attaches itself automatically to anything I write.

    Like this—>.pinimage_reset {border: 0 none !important;margin: 0 !important;padding: 0 !important;text-align: left;}#pinimage_pinner{background:url(resource://jid0-xaabacbjebkv5me8iesrpgdl66w-at-jetpack/easypinner-for-pinterest/data/32.png) no-repeat;width:32px;height:32px;position:absolute;z-index:99999;display:none;cursor:pointer}#pinimage_overlay{position: fixed;top: 0;right: 0;bottom: 0;left: 0;z-index: 100000;background-color: black;opacity: 0.8;display:none;}.pinimage_slideup{-webkit-transition: top 0.3s ease-out;-moz-transition: top 0.3s ease-out;top: -300px;}.pinimage_modal {position: fixed;left: 50%;z-index: 100001;overflow: auto;width: 652px;height:290;margin: -145px 0 0 -326px !important;background-color: white;border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3) !important;-webkit-border-radius: 6px;-moz-border-radius: 6px;border-radius: 6px;-webkit-box-shadow: 0 3px 7px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);-moz-box-shadow: 0 3px 7px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);box-shadow: 0 3px 7px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);-webkit-background-clip: padding-box;-moz-background-clip: padding-box;background-clip: padding-box;}.pinimage_modal-in{top: 50%;}.pinimage_modal-body{margin: 10px !important;}

  • @moneyandrisk Hi Kim.  Is this on the forums or on your website? Never seen anything like that here…

  • It’s on the forum.  Look at my post above.  Do you see all those weird codes. starting with pin image?

It’s there for every post I type.  Or is it my imagination?

    .pinimage_reset {border: 0 none !important;margin: 0 !important;padding: 0 !important;text-align: left;}#pinimage_pinner{background:url(resource://jid0-xaabacbjebkv5me8iesrpgdl66w-at-jetpack/easypinner-for-pinterest/data/32.png) no-repeat;width:32px;height:32px;position:absolute;z-index:99999;display:none;cursor:pointer}#pinimage_overlay{position: fixed;top: 0;right: 0;bottom: 0;left: 0;z-index: 100000;background-color: black;opacity: 0.8;display:none;}.pinimage_slideup{-webkit-transition: top 0.3s ease-out;-moz-transition: top 0.3s ease-out;top: -300px;}.pinimage_modal {position: fixed;left: 50%;z-index: 100001;overflow: auto;width: 652px;height:290;margin: -145px 0 0 -326px !important;background-color: white;border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3) !important;-webkit-border-radius: 6px;-moz-border-radius: 6px;border-radius: 6px;-webkit-box-shadow: 0 3px 7px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);-moz-box-shadow: 0 3px 7px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);box-shadow: 0 3px 7px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.3);-webkit-background-clip: padding-box;-moz-background-clip: padding-box;background-clip: padding-box;}.pinimage_modal-in{top: 50%;}.pinimage_modal-body{margin: 10px !important;}

  • This is probably a really stupid question…but I could really do with some advice…I have just recently change over from having a “brochure” or HMTL web-site that was designed for me over to WordPress :) That was fine in that I have produced my page with all the products that I want to promote….however I want to start a blog or online magazine that reflect my businesses – and I don’t have the first clue how to do this…recently I was emailed by other WordPress users (bloggers) who are within the same industry as me and one of the articles is really interesting and I would like to use and put it on my page…what I am hoping for at the end is that people will start visiting the page for products that they may be interested in, participant by making comments and / or leave me testimonials and finally maybe I could also have guest bloggers….these are my pages:http://the-green-house.iehttp://soul-scribe.complease take a look at them and please give me your opinion on how to achieve my goal as well direct meI would very much appreciate it

  • my wordpress side menu do not have plugins as one of its option and i realy need to use it now, i will need a positive advice on this little challenge.
    thanks.

  • Hello All – I am glad to be a part of this forum. Currently, I’m working with a client on their social media strategy and they asked me to provide some guidance on their blog http://www.kwikgoal.com/blog/. I was wondering if you or someone in the club could lend their expertise. Is such a service offered? Thanks.

  • Hi all – I’m about to launch a blog about job search – resumes, interviews, etc. – and I have a question right off.

I’ve read that you should have at least 5 posts before you “launch” your blog. Does that mean I should’t share or promote any of my posts until I have 5? That doesn’t seem right.

    Thanks!

    Thea

  • Well, I hope that isn’t true @theakelley. I just started a new blog using my business name yesterday. I shared it after the initial post and today I posted again and shared it to my FB page, G+, Twitter etc.

I should probably have it reviewed also but I am still tweaking. I went with Blogger and not Wordpress. What are you thoughts on that?

  • Hi @lorithueme, I can’t compare Blogger & Wordpress – at least not with current info; a couple years ago I researched it and Wordpress got a lot more votes, but Blogger may have improved. But as for your posts, I’d say you should post a few more ASAP so that people checking out your blog will see more reason to follow it.

Who were you going to have it reviewed by? I haven’t looked into that yet, have no idea… What business are you in? I’m a career coach / resume writer, myself.

  • I am definitely going to post more, I am thinking everyday or other day in the beginning to get it started. I have a lot to add that is currently on my FB page but I don’t want to overload it also.

There is a post here in the forum that you can have your blog reviewed by other members. That is what I was thinking of doing. Once I get it done, I am still doing some tweaking :)

I am the Business Director as well as a Rep for Military Apparel Company. We take personal military uniforms or other items that our clients send to us and redesign them as bags or accessories as a way for them to keep their hero with them.

  • Hey there!

Excited to be a part of what looks like a thriving community here!

I have a dual focus as I already have one blog and I use it as a home base for awareness and advocacy campaigns so I’d love to learn more about marketing it more effectively.

I also work as web and graphic designer, writer and copy-editor, and virtual assistant, doing just about everything from setting up and maintaining a Wordpress site to helping play with code. I’m working on my professional site and blog so that I can touch on some of these parts of my professional side and know I’ll need help along the way making solid decisions.

Look forward to connecting with others and learning along the way!Katrina “Kat” Moody

  • @lorithueme Thanks for your reply and for mentioning the review feature here. I’ll definitely look into that.

Your business sounds really cool! Very creative and meeting a need.

  • I am new to blogging and new to this beautiful site, ( I actually wait for the email each day…LOL). I so appreciate the content in the posts here.I have a question…… hopefully this area is where to ask….  regarding backlinks, is there a suggested ratio of backlinks to pages, is there some sort of formula…. Thanks for your helpdaveM

  • Excellent Topic this.

But surprisingly I am not seeing too much activity on this topic. I suppose we can post any “How-To” topics here , @kristi-hines ?

    Answers awaited

  • @saumitra-ghotikar This is more about the basic how to of the clubs – how to about anything blogging goes into the main forum. :)

  • New to this networking club.  I am the Office Manager for Rainbow International in Winona, Minnesota.  We are a carpet cleaning and water/fire damage restoration company.  Not the most exciting field for social media, but I am always looking for ideas to improve on what I am currently doing!

  • @tricia-angst-runningen  Well I am pretty new and inexperienced, have been looking at this site for a couple months… People here are most helpful and kind and especially skilled in their craft of blogging. I hope you enjoy your membership to this site as much as I do. Welcome.!!

  • Hi @kristi-hines
What is about your Baby ? Enthusiast to know about your baby. :)

Reading club rules…..I want to breath here as my home :)

  • @anis-ahmed She’s 8 weeks old today and doing well. Thanks for asking. :)

  • Grateful to see what I can learn from this club. How do I tag a blog in Wordpress.?

  • Hi  @kristi-hines I am a member of all 3 clubs but the New Topic button does not show at the top of the Blogging Club. Can you help. Thanks.

  • @david-easter That’s odd. I’ll let support know. :)

  • @david-easter Do you mind if the developer logs in to your account to see what’s going on? He doesn’t need your password, just wants to get the OK first.

  • Hi  @kristi-hines the button has come back now and I have posted to the Blogging section. If the developer still needs to log into my account that’s OK.

  • I’m so excited to find this club and can’t wait to network and learn.

  • I’m so excited to find this club and can’t wait to network and learn.

  • I’m so excited to find this club and can’t wait to network and learn.

  • I signed up for all 3 clubs and the blogging club for some reason does not have the “Add Topic” top on the right. So I can not start a new topic. It only allows me to reply to discussions..

    All other clubs are fine..
    What could be the problem?

    Thanks,
    Kim
