  • I know that Kristi is a start on Web Analytics, but I am also here to help if you have questions.

    So fire them up!

  • Hi Eugen,

I am glad that you started this thread.  I also have an interest in web analytics.  My questions will be forthcoming.

    Cheers!

  • @eugenoprea Thanks for the offer Eugen! I know I got one on the webinar about slashes – will email them for more details, but I might have to refer back to you on that one! :)

@petertrapasso Definitely send your questions our way Peter! :)

  • @kristi-hines that would be fabulous.

I heard the question, but not all of it because I was busy registering :) . I managed to find the URL before getting the email. :P

@petertrapasso We look forward to get your questions.

  • Hello Analytics Superstars!

Of all that is involved with social media, analytics is not such my strength.

    For fun and curiosity…

What/where is the best “Analytics for Dummies” guide online?

    Looking forward to your input!

    Thanks in advance,

    ~Keri

  • Does anyone else feel like it’s a never ending sea of information?

I must admit…I see the world in pictures and art forms.  I can’t quite get a picture of the whole circle of SEO.  I am working hard at it though!

Analytics…i think it might mean something different for everyone in each industry.  I have always approached everything I do with the end goal as the starting point and worked backed from there.    Does it matter and what is it to my bottom lime.  I like how Keri said it…is there a guide :) , but if your here, I don’t think you are a dummie :) @Keri

  • @connectyou Keri, Kristi has some awesome articles on Kissmetrics, Unbounce and Sprout Social about Analytics. Here you can find them:

Let me know if you have any questions.

  • @leilajones I am with you on this one. As a business owner you need to make sure that you cover everything and there is a lot to cover.

SEO, in a nutshell is simple: know your keywords, use them in your content, write valuable content and you will get good rankings and traffic. However, the process might get tedious sometimes.

On Analytics, kudos to you because you start with the end goal in mind. This is what I actually preach, before getting started with Analytics, make sure that you are clear about your business goals and objectives.

Only that way you will be able to translate those goals into Analytics tools and measure performance. It’s not about Page Views and Hits, it’s actually about measuring results.

  • @leilajones,

Thank you for your kind words!  You make some good points too – What is it to my bottom line.  I think, probably enough to make a difference.

There is a whole sea of information out there on this topic.  Great to have this resource here to wade through a bit more efficiently.

I like the way you look at the world.  We should have a virtual coffee sometime…

    ~Keri  :)

  • @eugenoprea,

Thank you for your helpful notes and links.  I like the words you offered Leila as well.

I’ll check out your links, and look forward to learning more about you here.

Here’s to clear goals and objectives…

    ~Keri

  • @kristi-hines and @eugenoprea:

    thank you Kristi and Eugen!

    Looking forward to it.

    Peter

  • @connectyou  Would love to have virtual meet-up!   I have come to embrace that I approach things from a different door than most.  I used to get frustrated.  I hired a mentor a few years ago and he helped me embrace all the great things around the way I process what’s in from of me and had me let go of the things that seriously make my eyes glaze over!  I have become the best promoter of outsourcing!  Do what I do best and let go of the things I “could do” that kill my momentum.  Best financial and business decision that I made.

  • Ok and here is one of “those things”  So couldn’t figure out how to increase the font size on the post above.  Paperwork, font sizes, too many words…eyes are glazing for me!
:) I could paint you one or take an interesting photo…that’s how my world looks.

  • @eugenoprea Thanks for sharing my posts on Analytics!  :)

@connectyou @leilajones I try to make my posts / guides as easy to follow as possible because, when I was learning how to do everything in Google Analytics, all I found were bits of pieces of information on how to do things here and there, very little visual reference, and some things explained in ways that made it sound more difficult than it really is.  I hope those posts help!

  • @kristi-hines My pleasure, Kristi!

Good to see that everyone is getting traction here! :)

  • @connectyou @petertrapasso You are most welcome!

If there is anything else you need help with, please let me know.

  • I am glad I stumbled across this thread. Here are my two questions:

    1) Do you recommend Google Analytics or Omniture’s tools?2) How do I overcome Google hiding data on its logged in users?

Having the answers to these questions would be most helpful. Thanks!

  • @kristi-hines,

Thank you, Kristi, for your approach to writing articles on this topic.

I’ve since bumped into a few of your posts, and noticed your informative nature right off.

A blessing, as this is not my forte.  :)

What are you planning to write about in the near future?

    Thanks again,

    ~Keri

  • @connectyou Thanks Keri, I’m glad they are helpful!  :)  I’ll probably be writing about the same topics this year – most of my content is on anything online marketing related (analytics, social media, blogging, SEO, etc.).  The beauty of the digital world is everything keeps changing, so every post needs updating as time goes on.  :)

  • @paulwilson to answer your second question, you can’t. At least for the moment.

But I am suspecting that Google will come up with a tool that will show more data and that is why they are doing this now.

  • Can I ask if anyone is using Scribe for their analytics on their Wordpress Blog?  I have my website and everyone has been saying – do a blog.  So I am now doing a blog and I want to be able to have the right foundation.  If I can start with the correct foundation then I won’t have to backtrack.  Thanks
