Need a recommendation for a comment reply plugin (4 posts)

    Hey folks,

    I am currently using Disqus on my Wordpress blog and I like it for many reasons. But the one thing I notice when I visit a lot of other blogs is that they send auto thank-yous when I comment, which Disqus does not do. It also does not alert someone if I reply unless they specifically ask to be notified. I really don’t want to switch commenting systems so I was hoping there was a plugin I can use on top of Disqus to send out those thank-yous and replies. I have only seen one called “replyme” but it looks like it’s a bit defunct and no longer updated or supported. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I have a Disqus account because many of the blogs I frequent and comment on use this service. I am grateful that Disqus allows me to choose the notifications I want to receive. I like making those decisions and am glad the blogs I frequent don’t presume to know what I want.

    Just a perspective you may want to consider…

    Yes, I’ve debated that. I never subscribe to receive comments from other blogs because I don’t want to subscribe to the thread – some threads get hundreds of comments and I don’t want to be notified of any of them. But I DO want to know when someone has replied to me specifically. Unfortunately its all or none and most people choose none. So when a blog automatically sends me replies to my comments, I appreciate it since I don’t subscribe. Make sense?

    I am confused because it sounds like you want to make that decision for people commenting on your blog posts. (Sending them thank yous and notification of replies.) But, when you are out and about on the internet you don’t want that decision made for you. You only want to get notified of replies to your specific comment.
