My First WordPress Plugin (6 posts)

  • I created the Add To Post plugin out of a need to add AdSense code and newsletter signup forms to the beginning and end of my posts.

It used to be a manual task everytime I wrote a new post. If I wanted to make any changes I would have to edit every post I ever wrote. Definitely not fun. That’s why I wrote this plugin to allow me to easily make any changes and have them reflected on all posts automatically.

You can use it to add any type of content really. It can be other types of advertising such as banner ads or any html or text you want displayed.

It made things a lot easier for me so I wanted to share it with you all here. Hopefully you find it useful too. It was added to the WordPress Plugin Directory a few days ago and already has over 100 downloads. Kinda cool.

I wrote a post about the plugin here where you can also see it in use.

I would love any feedback regarding the plugin.

  • @howwhowhen Looks pretty good.  It’s a free plugin, right?

  • Hi @kristi-hines. I’m glad you like it and yes it is completely free.

  • @howwhowhen,

Would be super cool if we could add code in places other than the beginning and end of the post, i.e. in the middle with wrapped text.

  • @lukaspleva I could add shortcode support to the plugin. You would have to add this shortcode into your posts where you want the content to appear. I think that is the best I can do as there is no easy way to figure out where the middle of a post is.

    What do you think?

  • @howwhowhen,

I’d be cool with shortcode support :-)
