Most effective way to schedule posts to social media sites? (8 posts)

  • Hi, I have a WP based blog & are trying to fine effective ways to share posts automatically to my f/b, business page, linkedin, twitter, google+,& pinterest. What have you found to work for you?

    thanks Joanne

  • @jomcnz

Try OnlyWire.  Google+ you can’t as of yet but I heard there will be a change coming in the next couple months.

  • @jomcnz You could use twitterfeed to autopost your blog posts to Twitter, and there is a WP app available on LinkedIn to do the same thing there, which is very easy to set up.

Or you could use Hootsuite to schedule pretty much everything for all your social media platforms from the same dashboard, including Google+ now. As far as I know, Hootsuite doesn’t support Pinterest yet, though.

  • I use HootSuite. My account level doesn’t allow me to schedule to Google+ or Pinterest, but I can for Facebook (profiles and pages), Twitter, and LinkedIn.

I sometimes use the RSS Graffiti app for feeding blog posts into Facebook. Some of my clients like to auto post their Facebook updates to Twitter or vice versa, and you can find apps at either place that will help you do that. I don’t prefer that method because when you auto post from FB to Twitter, it’s really obvious; it puts a “fb” link at the end and a … where the update gets cut off if you go over 140 characters.

  • Great question and anything which makes life easier is an excellent idea.
The RSS feed for my blog is run through Feedburner and it automatically updates my facebook page.

As @laurachristianson I also use hootsuite which allows you to upddate/schedule twitter, linked in and FB from one dashboard.

There are many ‘share this’ type plug ins for the wordpress blogs as well. Sometimes I go to my website and ‘share’ directly from my post. This way I can share to my FB page rather than my personal page. AND people can also ‘share’ to their pages. If they visit from the RSS feed – they cannot share to a page (I don’t know if this is true for other people or not).

  • @lkellandmay  thanks, I also use feedburner, how do you it to automatically feed to f/book?I have also shared from my own post to various social media, but wanted somthing that I could schedule a bit.I tried RSS graffiti, couldn’t get it to work for me, don’t know why.I will look into the linkedin app & hootsuite too.
    thanks everyone :)

  • Thanks for asking this question. It’s on my list of todo’s also.

Joanne, when you get your whole system working, please report back and let us know what worked for you… I’m very interested to know what’s easy, takes the least amount of time, and what’s cheap or free. Love me some freebies!

  • Has anyone found that hootsuite will not longer post to multiple Linked In groups?  Any advice on other products to do multiple posts?
