  • I thought this would be the perfect place to ask as you are all far more advanced than I am. I have many bloggers following me and I am often asked for blogging tips – to be honest I blog because I have a passion to help others with parenting/depression, I just happen to have become well known – I still don’t have a clue what I am doing.

I do not feel confident offering blogging tips as such as I am still very much learning myself.

I do however know there are many out there who do know and would be happy to share some tips for me on my blog.

Here is a little about my blog so you know about readership etc:

Our Audience:Our Audience spreads worldwide, but mainly the UK and USA.• Klout score: 86• Google Page Rank: 2• Twitter followers: 4,465• Facebook Followers: 1,302…………………………………………………………………………………………………….Stats For January 2012Page views – 57,174Visits – 16,937Unique Visits – 13,45275.4% New Visits

I know the bloggers who follow me would love to learn more ….

  • @therealsupermum I think your passion and your unique angle have a lot to do with your following. Here are some basics, which you probably have already shared:

    • if you have a broad topic, pick a niche you are passionate about
    • know a lot about the niche, or invest in learning all you can
    • Understand what you want from the blog (emotional outlet, sharing lessions learned or professional expertise, monetizing)
    • Create a strategy(ies) that covers the blog and how you grow you readership, and other followers
    • Share, share, share
    • Get guest bloggers
    • Offer lots of links to professional resources that might help your readers
    • Curate other relevant content
    • Blog frequently
    • Cross-promote your posts or guest bloggers via social media channels
    • Depending on your audience, set a tone that attracts your ideal readers

That’s a quck answer; hope it helps

  • @therealsupermum Here is a good article that goes into a lot more technical./mechanical details: http://www.jeffbullas.com/2012/02/21/12-important-steps-some-bloggers-forget/

  • @therealsupermum If you’re looking for guest bloggers with blogging tips to share on your blog, you might want to post on MyBlogGuest (http://myblogguest.com/).  :)

  • @therealsupermum the way I became a blogging authority in my hometown was when people would ask me for blogging tips, and I would tell them the little that I knew. It wasn’t much. In fact, it was almost embarrassing. And yet, the little I knew was WAY MORE than the “none” they knew. So I looked really smart.
But in order to keep up that image, I started studying more tips. I even started writing about blogging, which helped a lot. I kept a notebook of stuff I learned — just little tips and tricks, like keyword density, or backlinking, or a new platform — and wrote it down. Eventually, even though I thought I didn’t know a lot about blogging, I knew a whole lot more than I realized.
My recommendation: sit down for coffee with people who want blogging advice (when appropriate), and answer their questions. If you don’t know the answer, tell them you don’t know, and then find it out. Eventually, you’ll fill your stores of knowledge without even realizing you have.
Also, volunteer to give talks about blogging to small groups. The paralyzing fear you feel about embarrassing yourself will more than drive you to learn what you need to know. At least that’s how it worked for me. :-D

So having said all that, the best way to give you tips is just to answer questions. Ask a few rapid-fire questions, and we’ll answer them. Or if you want to email me, you can reach me at erik dot deckers at gmail dot com.

  • @erikdeckers Thank you for sharing. Your very encouraging. I have really been kicking around ideas since I definitely want to help other entrepreneurs and work with a client who helps start up women entrepreneurs. At times I feel ignorant in some areas but am encouraged to share what I know and learn more.

  • @rebeccacohen You’re very welcome. I’m glad to help.
