Looking for a photo and text widget (5 posts)

  • I was wondering if which photo plugin is the best for a (self hosted) Wordpress blog. I’ve tried different ones and many are not user friendly to myself or to a visitor. I.e. a visitor clicks on a pix, plays a slides now and they don’t know how to get back to my blog as athere is no “x” to click on to close the window. Also looking for a widget where I could chat with someone on my blog and/or that person could send me a text message from my blog. Thanks

  • Lightbox is just about the defacto standard for showing images on websites. This is what you see when you select a photo and the background goes dark and the picture is front and center. There is a plugin for wordpress. You can find it here:

in fact I will be setting that up shortly.

  • @debbiejames Here is another great plugin you can use for your site to show images on your site.

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/

And for the chatting with the someone from your blog you can use the following plugin as this shows a button called “online Chat”, with this your visitors can send you messages while you were offline & you can chat with them when you appears online to them.

  • Thanks @ayaz1 and @glengorhamAyaz, I’ve used next gen in the past. Unless the user knows to hit the “esc” key, to exit out of the gallery, they won’t know how to get back to my blog.Am I missing something? Thanks.

  • @debbiejames  Well Debbie.. When you hover the curser on the picture’s which you are showing through the NextGen Gallery plugin, they says “click to close” the slideshow & this is not a difficult task to do.
