Insert More Tag in Wordpress (5 posts)

    Hi – I am trying to truncate blog posts using the Insert More Tag in Wordpress. It seems to work once in awhile, but not consistently. I am clicking Update after using the Insert More Tag.

    Any tips for showing the first few lines of a post, with the More link for the rest of the post would be appreciated. Thanks.

    @stanrobinson It probably depends on the theme, but I just use the Excerpt field. That way you can customize what you want shown on the homepage / archives page and it should put a read more link (or similar) beneath that snippet of the post.

    @stanrobinson It should be in the set of fields below where you enter the main content. If you don’t see it, click on the Screen Options near the top right of the dashboard and make sure that Excerpts is checked. Sometimes it’s not by default. You can see these two areas in this screenshot of my WP dashboard.
