How to turn readers into clients? (6 posts)

  • I run a couple of blogs and people seem to like them.. they read them and sometimes comment on them (not enough people, but that’s a different topic altogether!).

How do I learn to write in such a way that people take action when they read my blogs? Either by commenting, or going to our websites or even better – purchasing some of our products?!

What has worked for you? Sharing of experiences is really what I’m after.. would love to hear your stories!

  • @ivankamenken Usually if you want someone to do something specific once they’re done reading a blog post, you have to spell it out for them and add a call to action at the end of the post.

If you want someone to comment, for example, at the end of the post, ask a question.  For example, if you have a post called 10 tips for using Twitter, at the end, ask readers to share any additional tips or things that have worked for them in the comments.

If you want someone to check out your latest product, find a way to tie your content into what your product does.  For example, if you have an analytics product, have a post that talks about all of the things you can learn with the right analytics program.  Then, at the end of the post, say something like “Want to see what you can learn using ABC Analytics?  Be sure to watch our demo.”

  • @kristi-hines  Thanks for the prompt response! I will make sure to go over all my blog posts again to re-read them with this in mind. (although I think I already do this… won’t hurt to actually check… )

  • Million dollar question…..I am also looking for some help here.

CTAs are definite;y something I find missing in a lot of blogs and where ever I see them, those writers seem to be doing well.

More input would be appreciated though

  • Make sure there’s a call to action, like @ivankamenken already said, but even better, give them something more. Offer a white paper, free access to a webinar you’re giving, or anything else where you can ask for certain data for them. Then, make sure in your info gathering page, you ask them questions about whether they would be likely clients or not.

Then, call the ones who said they would be, and pitch your services.

  • give them what they want and then tell them what to do.
IT seems to me that too many people write about what they like and assume others will like the same thing. You can did this and it may work. It’s better to do your research first and target an audience. Do your blogs do this?

Then, like Kristi said, you give a action to the readers.
