How to link a blog to social media? (7 posts)

Topic tags: Blog, Links, social media
  • We just did a redesign of our entire website with an internal blog.  My question is “how do I get that blog connected with our Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedn accounts?”.

What I am looking for is a way to do this without hiring someone else to create a new blog, but rather tips to do it on my own.

    Thanks.

  • If by link to your social networking accounts, you mean have it publish automatically, there are a couple of ways:
Twitterfeed.com. I’ve used this one for a couple years. Set it up so it cruises by your blog every 30 minutes, and then set it to publish the title, the URL, and the words “New Post:” to FB, LI, and Twitter. Be sure to use the Bitly url shortener (www.bitly.com).

Ping.fm. Ping will communicate to a number of social networks, but the only way I’ve found to automate it is to plug your RSS feed into it. Whenever you publish your blog, the new post will go into the feed, and then trip Ping and send everything out. (Use Feedburner.com to set up your RSS feed.)

Use one or the other of these, not both, or otherwise you’ll end up double-publishing to your networks.

  • @drbaldwinfl You can use the networkedblogs app on Facebook to bring in your blog.

  • On my blogs I just linked my Facebook account to my twitter account and then I can post on my Facebook page and it automatically goes to twitter. This does require a manual step, but I like to change the status update, so it isn’t always just the title and a link.

  • If you’re on WordPress, go to your Settings where you’ll see a tab that says “Sharing.” Click on that and you’ll be led to a Publicize area that lets you connect your social media channels.

  • @drbaldwinfl If you’re looking to automatically share new posts from your blog to your social accounts, follow @erikdeckers suggestions.  I personally loved using Twitterfeed.  :)

  • Thanks to all who replied.
