How to get noticed? (8 posts)

  • The success of our blogs is based on their ability to be found by our loyal readers and new clients… What have you found to be the best way to get your url and web address ‘out there’ for people to notice.
    Has it been social media?
I have had most success with posting on Linkedin rather than twitter/facebook.

  • @lkellandmay I find social media is best if you have an audience – sometimes you have to build up that audience and wait for them to discover your website as they start following you. Also, the sooner you can get it optimized and ranking for the particular keywords your audience would use in search engines, the better!

  • Kristi:
Getting noticed in the search engine is another venue to be explored. my website is pretty well ranked with the keywords I ‘think’ people would use. I have been doing a blogging ‘challenge’ and as a result of everyday posting I have received better statistics.

  • @lkellandmay That’s good to hear! You can do some keyword research to see what keywords get more traffic than others with http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

  • @kristi-hines Thanks – This is a great tool to use and I frequently test my key words using the adwords tool.

Have you had much success with the keywords which appear in the Jetpack stats or the Google Analytic Stats?

  • @lkellandmay I don’t use Jetpack – Google Analytics is actually a good tool to use to see what keywords bring people to your site and how long those people actually stay on. So if you notice when people arrive with Keyword A they stay 10 seconds vs. Keyword B they stay on 1 minute, then Keyword B is more valuable.

  • thank you @kristi-hines I use Google analytics and have found the jetpack and Google numbers don’t jive. The Jet Pack numbers are a little higher so I go with them. :)

  • Thank you @kristi-hines
I think I will have to revisit and stufy my google A a bit more in depth to see what and how long they are staying. This is a good tip and one I really never thought of before. Thanks.
