how do you find affiliate programs? (11 posts)

  • One of the ways to make money on your blog is to find affiliate programs on your site. (Thanks @kristi-hines for that info.) Now, how do you attain that?

  • Hi @deairby, I looked at your blog and it seems to be related to cooking? Please correct me if I am wrong. With that info, I think one of your best places to start in affiliate marketing would be the Amazon affiliate program. Just go sign up for it here https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/.

Next, when you write about a cooking book or some new kitchen appliance you can link to those products at Amazon’s website. The link includes a code to identify you as an affiliate so if anyone ends up buying from Amazon you would get a commission.

There’s a lot more to affiliate marketing including tracking, split-testing, landing pages etc… but I hope this gives you a good idea of where to start. My blog is all about affiliate marketing but I’m just getting started with it.

Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about affiliate marketing.

  • @howwhowhen awesome info, Howie, thanks. And, thanks for checking out my blog. Yes, it has a lot of cooking but I had 6 weeks of travel around the world and then sometimes it is just stuff. I will definitely check out Amazon. Do you have affiliate marketing and what is your blog?

  • @deairby I think you mean how do you find affiliate programs.  Finding affiliate marketers means that you have a product you want others to promote.  :)

I really don’t go in search of affiliate programs for my blog – I just find the affiliate programs associated to the things I already use (themes, plugins, eBooks, courses, events, etc.).

If you need to search for something, you can start with looking for great books or products on Amazon that your blogging audience would like, sign up for their affiliate program (https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/) and start including those links in your blog.  You can also start looking at affiliate marketplaces and using the search box to find products in your niche.  Some places to look include:

Also, think about where you like to shop for things that your audience might enjoy.  For example, I was about to write a blog post on my first camping experience. We had bought a tent from REI, and I thought I might as well put an affiliate link to that in my post.  So I googled REI affiliate program and surprisingly, they had one.

So anytime you are naturally going to write about a product anyway, consider searching for it or the store you bought it from and the words affiliate program to see if you can earn a little with your recommendation!

  • @kristi-hines thanks so much, Kristi, for setting the question straight! And for all your great information. I’ll be mindful of this as I post.

    1. Googles Affiliates

    2. CJ.com

    3. shareasale.com

  • @deairby You’ve already been given some great advice here.

If I could add something, it would be to check that the affiliate networks you sign up with are established and reputable. I’ve heard quite a few stories where people ended up not getting paid the commissions they earned!

Though not exactly an affiliate network, I think that Shopzilla.com could also work for you. It’s a Pay-Per-Click program.

Another affiliate network that I use is Avantlink.com – great support + they always pay on time! :)

Another one that you can check out is Linkshare.com

    Cheers!
