More specifically, what tools do you use for your scheduled backups? Do you use a service like Vaultpress, or a plugin like WP-DB-Backup and BackUpWordPress?

I use Backupify, but have not used WP-DB-Backup. I probably should just to make doubly sure.

@jasonwiser I use VaultPress for my main blog because of the amount of content and daily need to keep it safe. For the rest of my little sites, I just backup manually. Probably should get the plugins for better automation though. :)

I go with BackupBuddy. It is free, you can set a backup schedule, it comes with some security addons and has even some malware scan. Since there is also a DB restore function, it seems pretty perfect to me.

I do a combo of Backup Buddy and Sucuri – a few months ago I had a bit of a client scare which made my a bit hyper vigilant. Here is what I wrote about it (feel free to ignore the affiliate links…)

I almost bought a backup plugin for WP, until the guy who recommended it came back and rewrote his recommendation, instead comdemning it and blaming it for screwing up all his data. Since then, I’ve been leery of what to buy.
Can’t afford a lot, so what do yall recommend on a lean budget? I’m more afraid of screwing up the data at this point, since most of the big dawgs I was following at the time recommended I buy the plugin that’s now comdemned. Boo hoo, soooo confusing.
