How are blogs influencing YOUR buying decisions? (7 posts)

  • Got a blast tonite with interesting – and suprising – stats from BlogHer.com about influence of blogs on purchase decisions and trusted info vs. social media outlets… http://www.blogher.com/women-and-social-media-2012. So, are blogs influencing your buying decisions? Or business decisions?

  • @sharijstauch Thanks for the insights and the question. Blogs do influence my buying decisions, but only if the topics presented are discussed. I tend to move away from blogs that have no interaction between different points of view, especially if it is a b2c blog not allowing comments. But once the topic becomes controversial and people provide the reading community with links and resources, I am in.

  • Yes blogs are influencing my buying considerations. I recently went to try out a new organic restaurants just because I found their blog online. Of course it did help that they were only 20 minutes away. I’m also one of those people that if I’m shopping for something specific, when I have a shortlist I will go online to see reviews and recommendations. And most of the info I find is on blogs.  @sharijstauch

  • @sharijstauch I just bought an iPhone case from  https://www.speckproducts.com/ thanks to this blogger’s review - http://smartboydesigns.com/2012/02/29/review-fitted-burton-case-iphone-4s/.  :)

  • @ecumenix Thoughtful input, thank you! And @cherelleleong @kristi-hines excellent feedback and loving the speckproducts.com site — soul food for a mac geek :)

  • @sharijstauch standard practice for most larger purchases I make is to read what other people are writing about it.  And a blogger’s opinion versus the manufacturers opinion means more to me.  It kind of acts as a testimonial or a case study.  Especially what @cherelleleong commented on regarding restaurants.  Foodies are always blogging about their favorite local restaurants and can have some very influential copy that will either push me to try out the place or steer clear from it.

  • I learn about products I wouldn’t otherwise know existed. Sometimes I buy them! That’s influence!
