Help! Bad Jing Audio Buzz – Listen and Help Me Fix, Please (3 posts)

  • Trying to figure out what’s causing the buzz in my Jing screencast snippets. Is it Jing, my Logitech headset, my laptop or what? I put five of the Jing snippets in a video slide show, separated by static images so it would help me figure out where the problem lies. These are QUICK videos, not something to spend lots of time or money on… well… not to spend any money on. Only two days ago, all the same equipment was working fine with no huge buzz or feedback.

    Wassup with this?

  • @atlantarobin I haven’t used Jing for screencasts, just screenshots. There is a post on ways to remove noise from screencasts here: http://thescreencastinghandbook.com/blog/15-tips-to-remove-noise-from-screencasts-and-videos/. I didn’t see anything in Jing’s forum except “it might be your microphone.” Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of is maybe you moved something else into the same spot as your recording area like your phone or other electronics that might give off a signal of some sort. My cell messes up my TV sometimes, for example.

Ps. Sorry for the late response. I didn’t have much Internet while on vacation last week.

  • Kristi, thanks for the great resource. I’ll put that in my magic techy toolkit to remind me NEXT time a silly little fly tries to jump in my pot of soup, lol.

Yes, I think it turned out to be a fan we had unplugged during a lightening storm, then plugged back into the same electrical surge protector strip but in a different spot a half-inch closer to my laptop cord.

It’s amazing how a slight difference can screw up everything… and take soooooooooooo long to troubleshoot. This little bugaboo lost me two days of online work in which over 100 vids did not get made on time.

    But that’s the biz…
