Guest blogging opportunities (57 posts)

  • Hi everyone!I have an idea and I wanted to run it by you all…I’ve just launched my new membership site, and I’ve been looking for blogs to either guest post or write regularly for. This gave me an idea!I thought why don’t we start a thread here where people can either post what their specialty is or post what they’re looking for as a guest blogger, and we can see what types of collaborations transpire! If you think it’s a good idea, post what you’re looking for, and possibly some links to refer to, below.I’ll start: I write about different aspects of social media crisis planning. A recent guest post I wrote is “What does it take for a social media crisis plan to fail you?” Visit it here to get a sample of my writing:http://www.theinternetconference.net/index.php/online-magazine/what-does-it-take-for-a-social-media-crisis-plan-to-fail-you/

  • Sorry about the no separation between paragraphs… Don’t know what happened??

  • This is the forum to do just that  @melissaagnes…good idea. While I have not had the good fortune to write a guest blog yet, I plan to write about stories and real life examples of ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary things.

  • Great idea Melissa. The beauty, or one of them, is obtaining inbound links to your own site or blog.I write about social media for businesses and my goal is to write digestible points for non social media guru types who try to do a lot themselves. I’m also writing a series for our local chamber on basic social media and search for business.Looking forward to others input in this thread.

  • This is a great idea, Melissa! I would love to interview and/or have a guest post with someone who thinks about or is an expert in Literacy 2.0, particularly as it relates to young kids and social media.

In the persona as a consultant for education and training, I would love to connect with experts who can share ideas, as @michellefontaine says, in a way that will engage those who don’t speak Social-media-ese. I want to excite those who are still skeptical about the possibilities.

  • @melissaagnes Have you tried out MyBlogGuest (http://myblogguest.com/) to find other opportunities as well?

  • @melissaagnes Like the idea! By the way, read your post and commented on it. I would like to have some guest bloggers this year as well on my blog, which I am presently redesigning. You can check it out at http://www.fredericgonzalo.com

I blog about social media, travel industry and marketing. Plenty of social media crises in the travel sphere, trust me! So perhaps I could have you guest post in the near future. Would love to return the favor, if you see a fit. Let me know!

@kristi-hines Was not familiar with “My blog guest” site, which I just checked. Looks awesome. Will definitely take a better look when I have a chance…

  • @kristi-hines No, I haven’t! I’ve just started looking into it – thanks so much for the recommendation :) I’ll be sure to check it out!

  • @fredericgonzalo Loved your comment – thanks for taking the time :)
I would be very happy to write a guest post for you. Thanks for the opportunity! Just let me know when you’re ready and we’ll discuss the details.
I made the decision to go the “two free white papers a month route”, rather than having a traditional blog, for different reasons – But if we could find a way to make it work,  I would be more than happy to!  (Perhaps we can find an angle and I could interview you for a White Paper, or you could write a “guest white paper” for my audience… just off the top of my head)
Lets continue the conversation via email, whenever is good for you. m.agnes@socialmediacrisisacademy.com

  • @melissaagnes Thanks Melissa for writing that yesterday in a pinch – it was widely read as I knew it would be.

I own The Internet Conference, which I started in Nov, and it is way exceeding any of my expectations. A lot of that has to do with the quality of the guest bloggers, like Melissa.

I see a couple of benefits, which I actually wrote about and posted a video yesterday. First, it helps your site grow. Writers love to promote their own work and it’s a great way to showcase themselves. The host blog should always give links back to the guest as a way of thanking them.

That leads me to #2 – it helps the writers. People will often browse around and check out the other authors. When they do, it exposes them to a whole new audience that may want to go their blogs/social media pages to learn more about them. It’s a great way to attract an audience (hence advertise).

I am doing some guest blogging in other places as well, and I have to admit that it’s exciting to see networking and growth.

But, it’s all built on trust and quality work/articles!

  • @donpurdum Thanks for the nice mention :) It was my pleasure – and you’ll have to email me and let me know the results (traffic, views, etc) I’m so curious!
I look forward to writing my next article for you!
    Have a great day!

  • @melissaagnes – We were excited to have you! I will email you early next week how it looks. Remind me if I forget.

  • Thanks, Melissa, and all responders. I don’t have the expertise in Social Media to guest post for you, that’s why I’m attending the Summit. But I do appreciate the idea as I am luanching a multi-authored blog to be called “Equip and Edify”.

It will give a place for Christian educators to post contributions to the effort we call “Incremental Discipleship”. The idea is that many people can encourage growth in spiritual maturity.

I’m open to potential contributors who would like to help others grow in their Christian walk. psilvachfc@yahoo.com

  • Hi @melissaagnes , good idea!

I’ve read your post yesterday, and I even got your post submitted on my blog news section by @donpurdum , good stuff!

Simply, and straight to the point, I run FamousBloggers.net which is a multi-authors blog to the core!

I am always looking to talented bloggers in the business, marketing, social media, blogging , some other related niches as we cover a wide range of topics!

So, this is an open invitation for you and everyone who wants to join us in the community!

  • @hesham – Thanks Hesham. I enjoy your site thoroughly and will be contributing some articles very soon!!!

  • Really great idea and you all are so supportive..I love this group/site/opportunity.  I support people with their marketing which includes of course their social media efforts.  I would love to have guests post from those that want to share tips and suggestions on a marketing related area. I have on done a guest post once for Danny Iny’s blog and I need to reach out to do more very soon.  Just contact me if you are interested in guest posting on my site which is http://virtuallydistinguished.com. THANKS!

  • @hesham  Thanks Hesham! I will go and check out your blog today and send you a private message to continue this conversation further!
Thanks for taking the time to read my post I wrote for The Internet Conference as well!

  • @michellechurch Thank you for the opportunity! I will have a look at your site today and will be i touch!!
Enjoy the start to your week :)

  • @melissaagnes Great Idea,I will be looking for some guest articles for Hospitality & Social Media. Hotels – Travel and Tourism is the main areas I will look for guest articles.

By the way @kristi-hines or others here. Since we are in on the topic of guest articles.

I keep getting my usual SEO emails and I now mostly delete them.  Well lately I got some SEO companies that want to do guest posts. They ask me how much I charge for my guest posts, back links, advertisement etc.

This was a new approach for me. What’s your best advice here. One site was a SEO site in Australia. I could see they had checked my site, and their info looked valid.

I’m not sold on this since I see many of these SEO proposal keep getting more and more savvy.

    Cheers
Are – Morch – Hotel Blogger

  • @aremorch Perhaps a guest post from @fredericgonzalo might be interesting for you?
As for your dilemma, I’m curious to see what others suggest…

  • @aremorch I always let it come down to content and who the SEO wants to link to.  If the post content is something you think would be good for your audience, and the SEO doesn’t want to link back to a site you wouldn’t endorse, then I usually say go for it.  Content is content in the end.  My only issues arise when the content is poor (you have to read it thoroughly) or the link is to something a bit shady.  I’ve slowed my SEO submitters by putting a requirement in my guest post guidelines that the guest blogger has to come back to answer their comments, otherwise I pull the link from their bio.  Since that’s all the SEO really wants, but they usually don’t have time to monitor their comments, it is a great deterrent.

  • Hi @kristi-hines thanks for the tips. I did check out the guidelines you had on your blog. I liked what I did see there. Do you mind if I model some of your strategies there?

What are your pricing strategy for guest postings when people ask?

@melissaagnes I follow our friend @fredericgonzalo blog, here on SME Network Group and on Twitter. I also had the opportunity to meet Frederic, and heard him speak on a Travel Event I participated on in Miami, FL. He provides great content.
    Cheers…
    Are Morch – Hotel Blogger

  • @aremorch I don’t mind at all.  I think more bloggers should have similar guidelines – you might get less submissions, but at least they will be good ones.  :)

I actually don’t accept payment for guest posts on my site.  Not to say it is bad thing, but some people may assume they are buying a large advertisement and make the post less informative, more sales or push toward their site / product.

  • @kristi-hines Awesome :)

And great tip about payment for guest posts. Learned something new here today. Did not think about that at all.

Time to take care of my horses now ..

    Cheers..

  • @melissaagnes Thanks for the mention, Melissa!

@aremorch Are, indeed, our paths seem to cross often in the past year… ;-) Hey, what Melissa is suggesting is actually a pretty good idea. My blog was up until recently a sideline, a passion for travel marketing. But since my mandate finished last November in my previous role, I am now going into consulting and social media training. So my blog shall become cornerstone to my approach, and I intend to beef it up, separate french and english content, and so on. Would be great if we did a guest blogging exchange. I can write on yours, you can do the same on mine…

Let’s discuss by private mail, at your convenience. Cheers,

  • @fredericgonzalo – Sounds really great to me.

Let’s get in touch. I think my SME profile should have my contact info.

I am not out traveling this week and next week.

    Cheers..

  • Hi @melissaagnes Thanks for starting this thread. For you and  @kristi-hines @aremorch I’m available to guest post on web design + SEO related topics, as well as setting and measuring marketing goals. And I’m certainly open to guest posts on the Boxcar Marketing site. I agree with Kristi about the SEO emails for guest posts and having that person respond to questions.

I have a guest post today on 5 Blog Redesign Mistakes That Kill SEO if you want to see my writing style, and yes, I am responding to comments there today.

  • This is a great thread. I have been lucky enough to build a lot of credibility and traffic using guest posting. It has opened the opportunity for me to teach social media and Internet marketing at MIT, Guest speak at events, and it has brought in a hefty client list.I would love to return the favor for those who want to Guest post on my site http://www.SimpleMediaMarketing.com.The topics include: Social Media tips, Marketing, or Content Strategy, blogging, and internet Marketing. My readers are entrepreneurs and startups primarily.I am also open to guest blogging opportunities on the above topics for your sites. Thanks, Keith

  • Hello All! This is the perfect thread as I have been compiling a list of guest posting blogs. I have a new venture and blog at http://www.socialmedialabel.com/blog. The blog is about social media marketing in a timely manner. As most of you know building an online presence can take a lot of time and commitment. I want to show others how to do this in less time and still have positive results. I’m looking for guest bloggers and would love to guest post. .

@melissaagnes and others, I would like to offer you the opportunity to guest post on me blog. Thanks, Tomica!

  • @socialmica and @keithgriffis

Thank you for the opportunities! I will be getting in touch with both of you this coming week :)

    Looking forward to it!

  • Great topic Melissa, thanks. I would love to do some guest blogging. I will look into the resources posted here, thanks for your comments.

I blog about mindset and methods involved in a successful online business, usually directed towards the beginning or struggling marketer. You can find me at http://www.JenniferHerndon.com. I will also be visiting your blogs. Thanks.

  • I am always interested in guest blogging and having others guest blog on my sites.  mentorfreak.com and mentorxchange.org .
I also enjoy blogging about technology.  I am a mobile developer so this is one of my passions as well.

  • If anyone would like to submit a guest blog to be considered on our blog for Hubze I’d love to give it consideration. We’ve gotten alot of new exposure lately after being named one of the top 10 blogs for social media right here on Social Media Examiner. Feel free to go to this link and submit your blog. If I use it you will get full credit for it of course.

    http://blog.hubze.com/2011/11/write-blogs-for-hubze/

  • This is a new world for me. So far I’ve done all my own writing, but I know I need to expand the blog’s scope and viewpoint. My personal blog focuses on church leadership — not so much religion but more about creating church community and empowering laity. 2×2 virtualchurch.com.

I’ve stressed social media on this site and received good response.

In business, I am moving from graphic design and writing into social media. I am trying to help clients in the travel industry, funeral business, enrichment education, post-secondary education (trade schools), barbering and cosmetology, customer service and entrepreneurship, and environmental medicine. Eclectic!

I am interested in finding guest bloggers and will be glad to contribute to others’ efforts. I know a lot about communication in general (journalism major, commercial art and printing credentials) , graphic design, writing and fighting worthy causes, community and family. I’m a single mom, celebrating getting my son through college! Whew!

  • One of my clients is a non-profit organization for coaches (life coach, exec coach, etc). I manage their blog site, where we only publish guest blog posts.

As a non-profit site for professionals, one concern in launching the guest blog site was maintaining a particular level of quality. We decided to insert a filter — which is me, the editor. I always let the guest blogger know this going into the project. If I make any significant changes (80% of changes are grammatical) I run it back by the author before publishing. The authors never have a problem with it.

  • A great idea Melissa and I have wanted to attract guest writers for some time but not had anybody take up the offer. I do this via an introduction video but as I don’t know if people watch the video or not it’s difficult to know if the message is getting out.  My blog is to do with video marketing  as a part of social networking and business marketing so I have had an idea to conduct interviews as part of the guest post strategy.

This could be done via Skype with a choice to limit it to voice chat or if acceptable via my video conferencing room with two web cams. All is recorded using the Camtasia screen recorder.  The interview cover three main areas:

    1. When and how did you get into online business.2. What is the area of expertise or the niche your website addresses and how you attract visitors using video.3. How you use video as a marketing tool for your sales funnel and what you hope to achieve with it over the next 12 months.

The post will have short text intro providing some background on you and your website with links to any pages you want targeted for traffic.

Of course that last one leaves it open for me to return to you in 12 months and ask if you achieved your goals and how it has changed your strategy etc :)

As for guest posting, if you like the style I write with I am only too glad to discuss reciprocal contributions to anybody that is interested.  It does not have to be from a well established site it’s a matter of sharing and building relationships.  I will look more at some of the sites here as well.  Thanks Melissa.

  • Hi @mlm2gether , interesting topic your blog!

Ill take a look and keep you in mind!

Side note: Im not sure what type of video you have, but you could set yourself up with heat maps (crazyegg.com) and this may help you better know if people are watching your video and for how long…

  • @judithgotwald Have you been in touch with @fredericgonzalo ? He writes a Travel / Social media blog, perhaps there would be some nice opportunities for the both of you? Who knows!

  • @melissaagnes thx Melissa ….I’ve wriiten about heatmaps but not used them yet.  Great idea for a post though. :)

  • Yes, I am “acquanited” with Frederic. I’m developing that market and will keep him in mind. Thanks for thinking of the connection.

  • I was going to start a new thread on this topic and figured I should search for it first before starting it.  I’m new to guest blogging but am really excited about it.

  • Wow what a great thread. I just read the latest SME article (http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/5-tips-to-becoming-a-top-blog-in-your-industry/#more-16642) and came to the forums looking for further advice, so thanks @melissaagnes for starting this one, just what I was after.

We have very recently launched our new site and I have been blogging about topics that affect our day to day business; social media, design, marketing etc. But Im struggling to keep the momentum up, plus, I feel like the blog is very one dimensional and needs more voices than just my own. I don’t want the blog to appear like one continuous advertising campaign for my design business.
So, I am on the look out for guest bloggers / regular authors who want to talk about Design, Social Media and Digital Marketing. And I’m also looking for opportunities to write on other peoples blogs, although I’m not a writer by trade and worry about my competence.
So if anyones interested in writing on our site, please get in touch. martyn@hm-marketing.com

  • Hi All,

This is an excellent thread, just what I was looking for. :-) Thanks Melissa.

I am launching an online magazine called ‘MRA Network’ targeting audience across three industries Advertising, Digital marketing (SEO and Social Media) and finally Market research.
Having worked within these sectors, I see there is a gap in the market and wish to create a platform for thought leaders and professionals to interact.
If anyone is interested in reaching a wider audience by writing for us on topics across marketing, social media, branding and insight, please drop me an email at rjerome@mranetwork.com

  • Hi everyone I just want to let you know about Empower Network and about blogging for cash with them.  This is so unique and wonderful because your blog can be about anything or any business.  And there is a few things under the hood that are built in only by empower network.  Please go to http://www.empowernetwork.com/liemar and see for yourself.   Hope I have a few (or a lot) likes and visitors.

  • Wonderful tips …great response to guest blogging topic! This is a subject I have just begun to check out and my approach is to use YouTube playlists to promote each others blog videos, leading to blog help, and/or video they are interested in, etc….working out the bugs, if any of you have feedback I would very much appreciate it! (This channel started out to be my own experiences with different things on the internet, some I did not understand at all…lol)I remember spending all day searching for the right help, together we can help others to cut that time in half! I hope you will all give a video suggestion (whether it is your own site or a good resource). Also other helpful playlists on  > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTAjljXf10w&list=PLEED4317986F4A8BB&feature=view_all

  • Wow, what a great discussion thread! I am in the process of doing some changes to my site and blog (after getting some great ideas from SME’s Blogging Fundamentals workshop!). I’ve been thinking about having guest bloggers as well as searching for opportunities to be a guest blogger. I have a great list of ideas and people to contact!

    Thanks @melissaagnes
