Guest bloggers (16 posts)

  • Can I run blog only(!!!!) with posts of geust bloggers?

    Cheers for all feedbacks!

  • @rekaesther Sure, thats no problem the problem you have is where are you going to find the guest bloggers- what incentive would be to blog on your site?

  • I’ve literally just invited a bunch of people to guest blog on my website. I think you have to develop some relationships with people first and see who is a good fit for your blog. It’s taken me a few months to get into a groove with my blog and now that my alexa ranking has gone down considerably, I feel that gives me a bit more of a case to get some great people on board. 3 out of the 6 people I approached today have already come back to me with a “yes”. Am very excited.

  • @ptwylie hi, good question. I think theirs links on my site would be the first incentive, and than I don’t know…. What is your suggestion?

  • @casmccullough First of all good luck with your blog! Very good that you remined me, how is it important to build some relationship with the bloggers. Thanks Cas!

  • @rekaesther I think offering a link back from their author bio isn’t enough incentive for guest bloggers. As  @casmccullough stated you need to develop a relationship first. Having your Alexa positioning going down sure helps.:)

However, if you are just starting out with a new site then I really think you need to develop some core content on your site then, I would find people in your niche to contact and just start asking.

  • @rekaesther You could have a blog with just guest bloggers, but it seems to me that the true advantage and opportunity of a blog is to have your own voice. Once you establish your voice and niche, you can supplement with guest bloggers. Good luck!

  • @ptwylie thanks a lot I’ll try Alexa.

  • @ptwylie thanks a lot I’ll try Alexa.

  • @jay_rombach Definitely, but I’d like to make my job easier :)

  • Hiya, I think this is the same sort of question I was asking with reference to the activities covered in my business. I think my website has a fair amount of content and many many niches, if anyone likes the look of it and wants to have another platform please message me. I already pay for and run the website so I thought I would offer the opportunity to bloggers here before offering it elsewhere.

Clearly the benefit to me is that my visitors can be redirected to your blog for quality information on that particular subject.

The benefit to a guest blogger as I understand it is increased traffic and a backlink (which I would hope they would reciprocate)

  • @rekaesther You can Reka!  Usually people call those kinds of blogs multi-author blogs – the kind where you can expect most of the posts to be by a variety of writers.  :)

  • @rekaesther
I think that is a great idea! Even something like Social Media Examiner started with the founder recruiting a bunch of writers. I know of a few writers, including myself, who would be interested in guest writing for other blogs, so we can gain more exposure for our own blogs.  Let me know if you need a helping hand! Also, I am always looking for more content for my blog.

  • I agree with @casmccullough. You definitely need to pre-qualify potential guest bloggers. If you let any and everyone post to your blog, regardless of the quality of posts, then your site will end up looking like any other blog in a blog network–many posts, low-quality content.

Google has been de-indexing blogs on blog networks left and right of recent. They don’t provide value for anyone.
For SEO purposes, you don’t want a plethora of outbound links without accruing inbound links. A serious guest blogger will offer to push their guest post to their audience (you can ask or encourage them to). Those who spend time writing a quality post will definitely want it read, so they will most likely send it through their social channels. That push should provide the necessary reach for others to link to the guest post, thus providing buoyancy to each post.
Tip: Create an advert on your front page inviting visitors to become guest bloggers. If the purpose of your site is for guest bloggers to provide the content, make sure it is well known throughout the site and via each post.
    Good luck!

  • @lacducoeur @kristi-hines @nelsonta @tysonstevens Thanks for all of you sharing with me your opinions! Nelson, I’ll be touch with you, cheers!

  • Yeah! you can. There are some blogs out there in blogosphere which are alerady running on guest posts. so it’s nothing new, you can start your own, when you want.

Normally this kind of blogs are know as multi author blogs and the best example of this is bloggingtips.com
