  • Google alerts help, suggested search terms, omitting similar named people.

Please add your search term suggestions, especially how to omit results of people with similar names.

Please don’t use someone else’s name, just a generic “Your Name” in order to not be too confusing.

    Thanks.

  • HI @atlantarobin

    Great idea!

    Google Alerts reference link:

You can try out alerts in Google search until you’re seeing the results you want.

    Some Examples:

    My Name” -site:somesite.com

“My Name” -location -key term +blogger

Thanks, Jules. Those are great examples. Thanks for your help.

  • I also use http://ifttt.com for simple alerts on specific networks. anytime someone mentions me on FB or Twitter wordpress (and more). its free, it hasn’t been around a long time, cannot hurt to check it out. I mainly use the FB and Twitter ones.

  • Thanks @glengorhamThat looks like a great suggestion, I just signed up.

  • @juleswebb Great reference link – thanks Jules!

@glengorham Nice resource – will have to check it out!

@atlantarobin I don’t know if you use a RSS reader like Google Reader, but I use the option to keep the alerts as RSS.  That way you can look at them all at once vs. having to flip through emails.  This is what mine looks like for the last few days…
