Free Google Authorship PlugIn – Adds your photo next to articles in SERPs (9 posts)

  • I’m already hooked up, but thought many of you may still need this FREE new WordPress Plugin for Google Authorship photo/avatar to appear next to your articles in search results. The developer has it listed as a free WSO in the Warrior Forum (link below).

I read through this and watched his installation videos and this seems like a handy tool. I also like the widget tool that adds a nice photo/blurb in your blog’s sidebar. PLUS, it’s FREE! Just click the link on the first page for instant access and that will take you to the installation video, more info, and the download page. Enjoy!

  • @atlantarobin Is there a catch? That seems like a strong pitch for a free product. They must be adding people to a massive mailing list.

  • There are other plugins you can use (also free) listed in the WordPress plugins area.

There you can see ratings, support notes, etc.

  • Sorry, but I’m haven’t a hard time getting on line lately.

Kristi, yes, many marketers sponsor free wso’s in exchange for your email in order to build their lists. I go to WarriorPlus and do a “free” search under Track WSO’s about once a week (up till my computer problems happened). There are ALWAYS some really good FREE offers there, but you have to go through so many grundgy worthless ones to find the good… it’s just not worth it to me to go look daily.

I don’t know this guy, but HIS plugin looks great and the Author Blurb Widget that puts the nice Boxed photo and author info on your sidebar is one of the best I’ve seen.

Honestly, I hooked up my Authorship thangy so long ago I can’t remember how I did it, but it was definitely BEF?ORE all thse cool widgets came out.

But I thanky, thanky for the authorship link… as I’m trying to build a database of resources like this… which is why I go seek the wso freebie info weekly. I’ve been there so long now that I usually recognize the good and bad names so I do it faster than I used to. Still, it’s a “waiting” chore… with too many required clicks to just find out what the heck you’re looking at.

  • @atlantarobin @kristi-hines Google authorship is probably one of the most exciting things to happen To SEO in a while. Google clearly admits to favoring sites that utilize its products and pushing those sites to the top of the search engines. I’ve had my authorship ever since it came out. I saw an immediate jump in page rank from page 3 to page 1. Here’s a great article outlining more of the benefits. http://windmillnetworking.com/2012/11/30/google-authorship-are-top-social-media-influencers-using-it/

  • Hi all,

I’m finding a problem with Google products is that I use different email addresses for different things. Most notably, I set up analytics and youtube using my @gmail.com address, but now am putting most of my writing effort towards my @splistrategy.com.au address.

I have people adding my splitstrategy email address to their circles, etc. The circles function has removed the need to have different email accounts.

What’s the best way to reconcile it all?

(I’m down with the idea that using authorship on my SPLITstrategy address is great for ranking that site – it’s more a broader question about bringing together my gmail juice with my SPLIT strategy juice)

All suggestions welcome – really hoping the question makes sense.

Matt, I noticed that on at least ONE site I have that my articles weren’t appearing with my photo, as I was doing everything as Admin. I plugged my name in as a writer, and voila, up popped my little photo. But to tell the truth, it was like I said… soooooo long ago… I can’t remember details.

Hmmmm… now that I think about it… I’m wondering how that worked, as I obviously had to use my “author” email to make it pop up… but as long as I was writing under Admin… it wasn’t popping up.

Did this work for anyone else? Amy? Whatcha think?

But for me, I’m with Amy… I definitely saw a HUGE jump… like from way off in the hinterlands to page one… top three spots… al LOT! Unfortunately, for my own name, the Minister for Transportation in South Africa has me beat… a lot, lol. Still… I think I’m just as cute as he is… though not quite totally bald yet here,, thank goodness.

Matt, after I pondered what you said a bit… I agree that that’s quite a quandry… or it should be pondered… by everyone.

I mean, I advise real estate AGENTS to market THEIR individual names… so all their efforts will be transportable and follow them regardless of broker. Same for hair stylists, tattoo artists, doctors, lawyers or any professional or specialist.

Their personal name first… employer or contractor next, if they must. Of course, employers tend to try to contract their way through this, as they should in order to protect their investment in that employee or contract.

Still, out there in the wide, wide world of unemployment, I don’t think anyone disagrees… market your own name continuously, promote your employer on a reasonable schedule. (Shhhhhh… but whisper that softly… so no one hears, lol).

  • I’ll go find Jules Webb… and Eileen… as they usually know the answers to these type inquiries.
