  • Dear friends,

First of all i love the community here with like minded people. I have a question. We love to have in the email subject line the first name.. I can not get it to work. Who knows how you get the First name in the email subject. We are using Aweber..

    Many thanks in advance

    Virgil

  • @virgilbrewster It looks like they just changed their system this morning, but when you’re creating the email, click on the Personalize next to the subject and select First Name.

  • Thank you so much Kristi… you made my day ….:)

  • @virgilbrewster You’re welcome. It took me a bit to figure out how to navigate the new dashboard.

  • The new dashboard seems promising and I liked the drag and drop email template creator.

  • @kristi-hines, I switched to aweber but cannot find the QR code!  I’m sure it is there, as it is with MailChimp and Constant Contact, but for some reason, it is eluding my grasp.  I’ve used the search feature and they give a link to creating a form but I have already created my form.  Could you help direct me to where I would find it?  Thanks!

  • @pbcsky I think what they want you to do is place a standard from on a particular URL of your website (mobile friendly), copy that URL, then use this site ( http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ ) to generate a QR code that people can scan to go to that link. :)

  • @kristi-hines

Kristi, Ok. Thanks.  Although, I’m getting there but I’m still a bit confused. For example, I have a standard form on the first page of my website, placed with a widget with that java script given by aweber.  But, that is not a dedicated URL with just that form on it.  So, do I have to create a separate page with just this html form on it and then put that page URL into the free generator?  Why oh why was it so simple on Mail chimp and Constant Contact to do this?  They provided the code.  Is there a reason is an advantage to have it done this way?

  • @pbcsky They’re assuming that your homepage may not be as mobile friendly, so it would be hard for subscribers to subscribe. It probably depends on your theme as to whether you have a mobile template where one page can be made very mobile simple though. But basically you would use the standard form code like you did in a widget, just on a page all by itself that was dedicated to just your mailing list.

  • @kristi-hines, Thank you!  I do have a responsive theme but I made a dedicated page and put in the code!  Honestly, sometimes being a jack of all trades and a master of none is exhausting.  Appreciate your thoughts and help very much!

  • @pbcsky I know the feeling – you know just enough, but there’s always something else to learn with pretty much everything. :)
