FeedBurner (5 posts)

  • From what I see Feedburner isn’t being maintained by Google anymore.  Does this mean it’s going away?  What other feed services do you use?  I’m looking for super cheap to free!  Do you use a service that lets you connect to all social sites as well as e-mail?  That’s what I need!

    Please advise.

  • When I saw that, I switched to Feedblitz (about 3-4 weeks ago). It costs $1.49 a month if you only use RSS and not their mail service.

I have to say I am pretty unsatisifed with one thing. When people click to subscribe to your RSS there is a way for them to chose email as a subscription way. So as soon as you go over 10 mail subscribers, they raise the price even though you aren’t using their email marketing service (I use Aweber).

I contacted them asking how to turn off the option of email subscriptions, they said “it is very unlikely that someone who clicked on your RSS will chose an email subscription”!! Really!? Funny enough I got 3 email subscribers that day!
So I contacted them again asking about this, they said you can export them and move them to Aweber or just delete them if you don’t want to pay for email subs.

So here is another thing to “worry about” – they want blog updates, I don’t do those through Aweber. So I can either pay extra to FeedBlitz or lose those people!

  • I’m still struggling to find anything good to replace it that is super cheap!  Thanks for the advice.

  • @brankicaunderwood That bites. I”m not a fan of paying for email RSS subscribers for the same reason (already using Aweber).

@betsy-anderson Google is taking down support for the API with Feedburner, but they may not be abandoning it altogether. I’m personally hoping it stays on for at least RSS support because the alternatives are not looking that great.

  • Is there anyway to get around it through the subscribers? Any suggestions? This is kinda weird… to be left hanging with no alternative except “pay up.” Any other suggestions?
