Feedback for my new site (6 posts)

  • Hey guys,

I’m new to the club and thought I’d ask everyone for some feedback for my new site. If you have any feedback regarding post content or site aesthetics then I’d love to hear what you have to say. You can find my site here.

    Thanks!

  • Hey, David…

You are off to a great start!  You have beautiful photos which really make your articles POP!

The site seemed pokey to me…  The Featured Slider took too long to load.  Make sure the graphics you use for the slider are the *exact size* to fit in that space — not larger.

Maybe add a slogan to the top header graphic so folks get an idea about what “Complete Collective” is about when they land on your site.  Complete collective of design, art, visuals?  Create a slogan to clarify that.   It isn’t clear what the site focus is without going to the About page.

Beef up your About page to talk about you, your passions, why you are doing the site and add a photo of yourself to humanize it.  What we have there now seems like gratuitous “I have to have an About page statement” type of stuff.

Having a niche is important for many reasons — the “nichier” the better!  IOW, what’s your angle?

Good luck with your project!  ;-)

  • I’ve been having a lot of problems with load speeds and am currently changing hosts to rid the site of these problems.

I’ll soon be able to make improvements to the about page, and I agree with you on that point.

    Thanks for the feedback Judith.

  • @completecollective, The site looks very nice and clean. A little too black for me personally however.

I don’t see anyway to subscribe to the site via email. I would totally start collecting emails as soon as possible. Otherwise, nice work and awesome photos!

  • @howwhowhen – Chances are that you came onto the site while it was in the iddle of switching hosts, as we have a newsletter sign-up below the slider which must not have loaded when you visisted.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  • I would definitely put the email sign-up form above the fold and add some up-front incentive to get folks to sign up for your list within the form as well — some sort of instantly accessible freebie like a free report, video series, or something else of value.

Love the site otherwise!  Totally got sucked in by the Mad Men videos.  ; )
