Email subscriptions to a blog that only offers RSS? (4 posts)

    The Google blogs don’t offer email subscriptions (as far as I can tell), just RSS.

    Personally, I’m over RSS as a standalone technology and have put my reader out to pasture.

    Is there a way to get an email–either as an alert or as a full blown post–every time a new post goes up on a blog that doesn’t offer an email rss feed?

    Have you tried IFTTT? It allows you to create a trigger based on an ‘if this, then that’ model. You can easily create triggers that poll various feeds and send updates posts to an email address (as well as other services).

    I believe you can poll Twitter and send to email, although I haven’t looked in this in detail. You can definitely do it with RSS. If RSS isn’t an option, I’m fairly sure you could somehow hook into the blog and pull out the content, providing the blog has some kind of social media feed elsewhere.

    Anyway, it may be worth a try:

    There’s another similar site called Zapier which I’ve tried briefly. It’s a little more complicated but might give you a few other options.

    @rich-brooks There’s a site called Feed My Inbox (http://www.feedmyinbox.com/) that allows you to get RSS in your inbox. It is free for 5 subscriptions and then rates vary up to $16 a month for unlimited subscriptions. The $5 a month allows for 25 subscriptions plus the option to get them in a daily digest which might be helpful too.
