editorial calendar??? on paper, on screen, online????? (7 posts)

  • What do you think is the easiest way to keep up with your editorial calendar? Do you use paper, maybe a poster calendar, or notes in a daytimer? Do you have an app on your iphone or template on your computer? Or, are you using an online, floating in the clouds, service like Evernote or Asana? And, why? Is it a matter of preference or is there really a better way to stay organized?

  • @deairby I use Google Calendar, and a bunch of my clients use a Google Docs spreadsheet. If you are traveling from one computer to another, it makes sense to have it in a place you can access everywhere.

  • thanks, Kristi @kristi-hines

  • @deairby Wonderful question. Please let me know the answer so I can be more consistent. lol

  • @deairby I’ve been using Divvy hq (www.divvyhq.com) easy to use and has all the features i need to keep organised. They have a free version for 1 calendar :)

  • I use Google Calendar which syncs to my iPad and pings me reminders when needed. I also love Evernote.

Over the years I found that the editorial calendar is in the eye of the beholder. Some people prefer a giant paper calendar that’s in front of them where they can look up and see everything at a glance, while others (like me) prefer something electronic, taking up little spaces but making lots of noise for reminders.

  • I’ve been giving the Wordpress Editorial Calendar a go on one of the blogs that i’m responsible for – that has several authors.

The plug-in helps authors see what posts they and other users have scheduled for auto-posting, and also shows the posts that are yet to be scheduled.
Going to check out @justinthompson‘s suggestion of Divvy hq as that sounds like something that might help elsewhere in the office.
