  • Does anyone else find Google’s blogger page confusing? Wordpress seems more user friendly, and I’m wondering if it is just me? I’ve set up my blog pages and all in blogspot and now I think I’m regretting it. Suggestions?

  • @tomstallbikes I would move to WordPress before you get stuck with a lot of content and traffic on Blogger.

  • Oh…I’ve got it. I’m new to this and it just occurred to me why they encourage so many links to so many different people’s blogs…Thanks for the words of encouragement. And the process has started…

  • I’m on Blogger.com and have found it fairly easy to use once you get used to it. Their set up used to be much worse but I think the organization of it is pretty self-explanatory now. Interestingly, when I posted articles for a guest blog on Wordpress, I found adding images more difficult on that site (I had problems with it interacting in an attractive way with the text). I guess it is all what you are used to.

The benefits of being on Blogger is that it is owned by Google so (in theory) it works more seamlessly with other Google-owned entities such as Feedburner, Google+ and Google Ad Sense.

  • @tomstallbikes i have to agree with  @kristi-hines wordpress in my opinion is heaps easier and better. Although I understand the thought behind  @kathybernard thoughts, which is a good one.

Google however loves all blogs platforms because of the fresh updated content that appears from them.  I guess its a preference thing. :)

  • Thanks Geoffrey, Kathy and Kristi for your input. I spent more time on it this afternoon and I think I am starting to understand the layout. But then again, this is coming from a guy who thought Facebook’s set-up was confusing and utterly time consuming to understand…I swear, that if it is not on a page in front of me spelled-out in print, I have a hard time figuring out the rhyme or reason for how to use these social media sites. I feel like an octogenarian who still hunts and pecks at a keyboard and as sure as I’m sitting here, still does not know what means to “point and click.”

  • @tomstallbikes Hi Thomas, after a little time with Blogger you’ll notice that it’s quite simple.
You just have to handle it for a while.

I started my first blog with Blogger and at the beginning it seemed very hard to me.
    Then it became very easy.

Anyway, I agree with Kristi and I would suggest you to move to WordPress soon.
Blogger is simpler, but WordPress is MUCH MORE powerful.

If you think it may help you to decide, you can read this post where I compare WordPress to Blogger.

In any case, if you need a help with Blogger, just make me know ;)

  • There is a risk to Blogger in that if you develop a successful blog and google decides it does not like you… you do not have ownership and could be the big loser.Wordpress seems to have tremendous power and a community that is continually pushing the envelope for new tools…. and as the business evolves Wordpress will be at the front.I have a couple blogger blogs and the functionality is fine for my purpose but limited as to what Wordpress can offer.

  • I just set up a blog for a customer on blogspot last week and initially found it confusing.   I also found WordPress confusing when I was trying to start one for my business earlier this year.  However, I have to say that after looking up info I was having problem on, I was able to find them all on Google.

So far I am liking blogspot and the fact that Google owns it.  Hopefully this means a preference when the keywords are put in for the service my client offers.
