Ok I have found one EASY way to do this, just for anyone out there wanting to do the same, if you go to your personal Facebook page and click the ‘add a badge to your site’ option down the bottom of the LHS panel, you can very easily select a badge for ‘your pages’ and hit ‘other’ and copy paste that code into your new/or custom widget in Wordpress. Make sense?
You might not like the look but it does work very easily and very well. Even for me.

I also know how to add social media buttons to both Wordpress and Tumblr if anyone needs the code.
@Kristi Hines thank you so much for replying, I am, for some reason, having problems with ‘downloading’ folders/files and then knowing what to do with them. I copied the download folder into the ‘plug ins’ folder in my Wordpress folder in my root directory and then browsed my Dashboard in WordPress but nothing shows up. Hmm.

@arty You can try to install plugins by going to your WordPress dashboard > Plugins > Add New and then searching for the name of the plugin, then letting it install from inside WordPress. If that doesn’t work… it might be a permissions issue that you need to ask your hosting company about.

I ran a search for other plug ins also and haven’t found a good one yet.
So if I run a search, and I have copied the files across, I should see them?
Argh crazydomains.
My hosting company and I aren’t getting along at the moment. *)
I tried to get some help with increasing the ‘upload file size’ from 2MB to over 30MB or whatever, and they can’t seem to deal with it. Malfunction. Do not compute.

I just used a pluggin, social sharing I think is what is was called, lets people click on facebook, linkedin, twitter and more and follow me

@arty thanks for the YouTube link! I’ve been wanting to add this to my site and blog too for sometime but hadn’t yet taken the time to do so. I watched the video and while my WP blog wouldn’t keep the links, it pointed me in the right direction. Instead of creating the links in WP, I created the code in Dreamweaver. All worked out great!

Some themes offer social media icons and there are some icons for services (various hit-and-miss) that you might use and I might not. I uploaded social media icons for the ones I wanted to use and created a few for ones I wanted to add (like here).

If anyone is interested in adding social share icons to their email signature as well, I highly recommend Wisestamp.com. You can customize your signature and the social icons that show up. They have free and paid versions.

@clusterwebdesignI’m not sure if it helps but when I create the post and insert the image/media file (icon) I copy and paste the domain into the field (in the same upload image window) and tell the link to open in a new window…does this make sense? It always works for me.. Hope it helps.

@arty – I tried that too. At least I think I did. Nothing seemed to work inside WP. Not sure if it was a browser issue, or WP, or … maybe I justed need to reboot. Anyway I wasn’t overly concerned as there are usually multiple ways to accomplish the exact same thing. Ultimately, you just need the right code.
