about to start back into an old blog that has fallen to the side, I was wondering about running adverts. Does anyone have an opinion on this? I set up an ezinearticles-like blog in a foreign language and ran advertisements – that was OK. I’ve not done much private blogging and wonder if there is enough payback for the annoyance that advertisements bring to readers.

@richardmclaughlin I’ve noticed that blog that don’t run adverts are much more trustworthy. They look more professional and don’t distract readers. We have decided not to run adverts at all except for some exclusive services or softwares linked to our field and our readers seem to appreciate it a lot. 

I add Google Ad Sense ads to my blog (Getajobtips.com) and rather than detract, it helped build traffic … my theory being that because Google owns Ad Sense, Google directs more traffic to your blog where visitors can see their ads.

Usually the ads are very targeted to the people who visit my blog (job seekers and the miserably employed) so rather than a distraction, they seem to be a benefit.
