Content Curation on Blogs (5 posts)

  • Hi everyone,

I was thinking of creating a blog where I would only curate news and articles from other websites.

You know, like a resource list post, with relevant information on the chosen topic.
Has anyone done this, I’m a little concerned about ranking such a website. Do you think Google appreciates content curation only blogs?

  • @philipalex List post websites can do well. Take TopTenz (http://toptenz.net). All list posts of about 10 items and has over 100,000+ keywords ranking in Google search (see chart at http://www.semrush.com/info/toptenz.net). Doesn’t seem to be too affected by Panda either.

So long as your not reposting full or partial articles from other sites, you should be ok. :)

  • @philipalex I know someone who did this through Huricane Katrina and the Smithsonian has made an exhibit out of her blog. She tried to do the same with the gulf oil spill and it didNt work. Too many people trying to do the same thing.

  • Thanks @amyhallbiz and @kristi-hines for your responses, it really made things clear for me.

By the way Kristi love your new blog desing, I recently started using the Prose theme on my blog. I’m starting to like the minimal design on blogs, you?

  • @philipalex Thanks! I do love the minimal. I have a personal blog that is bright and fun, but everything else is getting pretty monotone. :)
