Currently, I maintain two blogs for both lines of business with a schedule that is developed at the beginning of the month and posted once a week per blog.

  • Hello, everyone!

My name is Brenda Hollohan & I am the Business Developer (insert marketing, sales & social media person) for a very cool company called AbbyShot Clothiers! We create replica clothing inspired by movies, tv shows, sci-fi, anime and gaming.

We have had a blog since 2003, but lately found it wasn’t working for us. It became too “salesy”. We decided to suspend it temporarily, move it to a new platform (wordpress from blogger) and reinstate it when we unveiled our new website.

I am currently trying to find the best Wordpress platform to use as well as find the best way to reach our clientele. I need a solid base and a solid plan of attack as I am really doing the job of three people in the company, so haven’t any time to waste!

I am eagerly looking forward to learning more…and most of all, implementing it!!!

  • I’m looking forward to the course, Michael. I received an email about bonuses available prior to the class–and today’s the day to get started. I’ll do my pre-class work to get in shape and ready to soak up as much as I can.

I am a writer, living in Idaho. My primary personal Blog is Roadturn. I’m hoping to learn much more about the craft.

  • I am a complete newbie to blogging.  I just started a business consultant practice, Business Expansion Enterprises, in the Pittsburgh area (go Steelers!).  I am still in progress on setting up my website and I definitely want to blog, so I am really looking forward to this course.  I was blown away by the SMSS put on by you, @Mike-Stelzner, so I know this is going to be great! :)

  • Good Day All
Just watched Mike’s interview on Rise to the top, which I have to admit came by chance having been searching around Squidoo!. That was a spot of luck as it is deadline day for Early bird. As per the interview I become one of the 90%.

My blog BizNetworkGuy has been going since March this year and has had some really nice things happen during the short life. (I got invited to go out to Spain with the family on the strength of one post on a concert… “Coldplay to Copa del Rey”, which was great fun.)

I have some great plans for later in the year. I am looking into extending the platforms where my content is published, in an exciting new field.

One of the starting influences for me was “Launch”. It just made good sense to me and is a great guide. I am looking forward to hopefully getting some good info on planning and strategy.

I am currently working in the build up for the London Olympic games and so will most likely be engaging with the summit from a event construction site near the Olympic Stadium.. Cant wait!

    Thanks for all the help..

  • Hi folks,

Like everyone else I am looking forward to the Blogging Fundamentals course.

I am a marketing consultant based in central New Jersey, helping small businesses and professionals integrate social media into their marketing strategy. My speciality is LinkedIn as I have a background in B2B sales and marketing.

I’m getting starting on blogging and my blog is at: http://www.shrmarketing.com/blog.

See you in the Networking Club.

  • Hi, Brenda Green, owner of Bridal Letter (a wedding favor business) in Blue Springs, Missouri. Since March 2012, I am working for myself. I hit every social media network I can, but more focused on my website, blog, youTube, Twitter and hubpages. I never ignore StumbleUpon for sharing articles, recipes, cool pictures and places.

I started of with some blogs on blogger.com, but dissappointed by the results. Lack of time for a while; but added to my learning blogging in the meantime.

After the Social Media Summit 2012, my second year; I found hubpages and began tying my products and services with the ability to give “How To”. So Hubpages became my blog because it had what we all have to wait for with our blogs – an engaging community with conversion.

I relaunched a few blogs in June on Wordpress (disappointed only in I am on .com and not the other that has the plugin options) “A Wedding Theme” for my bridal business, food blog, “Smokin Sundays and Other Great Recipes” and the hobby one, “B Green Stamping”.

I am using camtasia and using youtube a whole lot more now. I just need more in depth skills for blogging. I have a special interest in video blogging now.

  • Hi gang! I’m Kathy Shuck in Atlanta, GA. I handle digital media (graphics, web, PPC & social  media) for Jim Ellis Volkswagen Atlanta. Never blogged before, but have written for print, video & web. Starting a blog for the dealership, so I thought I’d educate myself first!

Happy to be here and learn from you guys.

  • Greetings from NYC!

My name is Terra, I am the social media manager for LivePerson, a B2B tech company that provides software that enables businesses to better connect with their customers online.

We recently launched a new blog called the Connected Customer, and I am eager to compare notes with other corporate bloggers on how they are managing content and connection strategies. I’m looking forward to the seminars and will definitely be participating in the #BlogFD conversation on twitter.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Everyone. My name is Vandana and I am a newbie to blogging and hope to learn here how to do it fantastically well. I am a hypnotherapist and Interventionist coach. Happy to be here in this learning community.

  • Hi. I’m Gideon and I am a Ninja. No wait…I want to become a ninja. A blogging ninja to be precise. I love writing. But when I get to blogging, I start clogging. Curious to find out if this course can unlock my potential as a blogger. Critical condition of course is that I have that potential….well enough to find out…

  • Hello out there! I’m Chris Straka, the project manager for a specialty App Development company. We produce apps for the Speech-Language Pathology industry. We’re about to launch an update to our first app and a totally new app later this summer. So, social media is critical to our marketing efforts.

  • I’m so looking forward to taking this course, I have so much to learn in such a short time.

I work Logic Integration, Inc. http://www.logicav.net we install home theatres and commercial Audio and Visual needs

This is a new position for me, and we are just starting to get our feet wet in social marketing and we just recently decided to start a blog on our website….oh boy!

I’m a Facebook fanatic, but everything else is new teritorry for me.

    So here we go!

  • Hi, I am the program director and SEO person for Dr. Margarita Gurri.  Dr. Gurri is an international speaker and consultant whose specialty is communication.  We are in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  I have very little to no blogging experience.  Our blog is ‘on’ our website, not a stand alone blog.

  • Oh, our website it being re-developed and will launch this week.  http://www.drmargaritagurri.com

  • Hi there,

My name is Keri, and I am CMO of Idea Girl Media.  I help business brands, non-profits & political candidates that value their online reputation achieve social media success.

I am located in Wilmington, Ohio (between Cincinnati and Columbus) and my clients are worldwide, mostly B2C.  I really like the ability to work with an international group of people since I worked with international cultures in my “previous life.”

My blog was started about 18 months ago, and I’ve done fairly well, but looking to polish a bit before heading into a new phase with my business – focusing on my blog.

We just finished the graphic choices of re-branding.  As I type, my blog is going through an SEO Audit, and we are re-fabbing the links, categories, tags, and some of the content.  Looking to publish with turbos on at the end of summer! :)

Always excited to connect with new people:

    http://ideagirlmedia.com (blog)
    http://www.facebook.com/ideagirlmedia
    http://twitter.com/connectyou

That should get us started…  :)

  • As I mentioned on Tuesday, I’ve had a blog for more than two years and want to move forward. This session (#2) has been fabulous and loaded with terrific info.

  • Hello lovely people,
Great sessions so far (as always with SME) and great crowd. I’m looking forward to connecting with you all. : )
And I need someone to “get on top of me” ~in a business way (for all other ways I have my husband..) ; )

I am a freelance brand strategist and social media consultant — and I’m all that without a website or a blog. It all just started so fast.. I guess I’m lucky in a way: I had clients right away and got too busy to launch my site. But I know I can’t go on like this. Starting my blog and finishing my site is on the top of my todo list. Without those I’ll soon fall into the “who can’t do it teach it” category : ) And that’s not the branding I’m looking for ; )
So here I am. Determined. And full of questions! : )

    Let’s do this :)

    ~Dorothy

Almost forgot: I’m working with Health Care Vlogs, a brand new video blog and community platform for health care professionals. We are building it from ground zero, currently developing content, building the brand, and so on. I hope I can pick up some wisdom relevant to video blogs as well :)
Would love to receive your thoughts on that too. Tips, advice, or any kind of contributions are welcome. :)

  • Hi all,

I am a digital marketer/ strategist from Brisbane Australia who is completing postgraduate studies in this area, whilst I (research and) establish a new business. As yet, I do not have my own business website/blog, although I am familiar with copy writing and content marketing principles (I just realised my  story is similar to @doroteee.. hello to you!!)  I joined SME’s Blogging Club to primarily meet other like-minded people, exchange ideas, and learn more about blogging, in general. I always try to be of assistance where I can, so if there is anything I can help with, just ask… I know I have a heap of questions that need answered… ha ha.. that is for sure. :) Anyway, I look forward to being an active participant and learning more about each of you.

Here is to a successful blogging future for all of us!~ Julia http://xeeme.com/juliaserafina

  • Hi all! My name is Heather and I also work for myself. I worked for 15+ years in the computer programming, computer training, web development business and when my son was born three years ago and had complications I moved to really focus on working from home and concentrated on my blog development, setup and design business known as Blogs By Heather.
My blog, http://www.BlogsByHeather.com heavily consists of free how-to articles on blogging using Blogger, TypePad and WordPress. So I have a lot of fun sharing all that with my readers and in this field there is always something to write about (LOL), which is great but I do have guest bloggers as well (MyBlogGuest).
I’ve been blogging say 6 years, but with my concentration in computer programming and web development, it was easy for me to just jump in and be able to tweak the blog’s design and functionality :D
I live in Sloatsburg, NY with my family – two children, three dogs and 6 parakeets! Yea…that’s another story! LOL.  So our house is full of love, fun, noise, and very active :D
Last but not least I am an author of two books on blogging, Beginning Google Blogger and the other is Creative Blogging (both published by the technology book publisher APress).  I am looking forward to writing my next book with them!
I have taken several courses with Mike (Social Media Examiner) and am very much looking forward to this one as well :D
    Have a wonderful day!Heather :D

  • Hi, Mike and all group members, My name is Pat Coakley and I joined these sessions because I am relaunching a blog as we speak, even as I write these very words, and want to do it right.  Social Media Examiner has proven itself in the past to give quality information so I’m excited that this forum coincides with my launch.

I am a photographer and writer and a former educational psychologist and career counselor in private practice. I translate the brands of small businesses into multi-media content that they can use in print or online social media with Coakley Creative Group and am going to focus my blog on creating bite-sized media (pun intended) about issues of weight loss and weight management. It’s called “Waving or Drowning”. I carry a Lifetime Weight Watchers card but every single, bleepin’ day those lost 62 pounds are still trying to find me.  Since I’m sick to death of listening to myself on these issues but am endlessly fascinated by the stories of others and the science and art of this subject, I’m going to focus the spotlight on others who can offer some wisdom we all can benefit from on a daily basis. My goal is to create ‘media bites’ to make it all very digestible! For example, my Facebook page for the blog has a quote by the comedian Louis C.K. on my Timeline Cover Photo of all the bathroom scales in my house.  Louis C.K and a blog about weight loss and weight management?  C’mon…It deserves a “like”, don’t you think?

Have already learned a lot in the first two sessions from Mike and from reading the posts on this forum.  I hope to earn a scouting badge in perseverance if not accuracy!

  • Hello everybody. I’m Liz Wilson. I’m already blogging and I’m here because there’s plenty of room for improvement.

I’m Editor of the Community Blog over at Paper.li and I’m starting again with my own blog.

Whoever said most first blogs will die was absolutely right. I’m looking forward to saying goodbye to the old one and welcoming the new. I’ll share the link when it’s ready.

Unlike the first time around, I’m confident of doing better thanks to these superb sessions.

Many thanks to Michael and the team at SME. This is a thoroughly enjoyable experience as well as being great value.

    See you soon.

  • Hello, all. My name is Shanika Journey and I’m a Multimedia Copywriter, 2D Animator, and Interactive Presentations specialist.

A Multimedia Copywriter is a person that’s responsible for writing persuasive marketing messages and presents it in a variety of visually engaging presentations. Basically, I’m a hybrid of a copywriter and graphic designer.Currently, I am doing great for local business but I want to transition online where I can expand my knowledge and services to others while increasing my business.
I joined this workshop because I needed ideas.I’m building my blog as we speak, but I need solid tips to help me build a strong foundation for it. This has been a major roadblock for me, so I want to get past it.
I want to build my blog first, then my services and website completely around it. I just feel like my blog should be the central hub where majority of my traffic can find out more about what I offer on my website. I know that’s where people can see where I’m most valuable to them, so I need tips and ideas on creating a strong foundation for it. I want my blog to stick around for several years, not a few months, so I feel Micheal is the best teacher to show me how to implement this.

I’m learning a great deal AND he helped me find a site that matches part of my ideal vision in presenting my blog content. Actually he showed it in session one.
I have already found the place where I feel most comfortable in placing my website and blog – Squarespace. I really like what it offers and I feel it can do everything I need. It has everything that Micheal mentioned in session three, so I believe I made the right choice for me.
I’m glad that I joined this workshop. It’s pretty cool to see some of my perspective about online content and value is similar to Micheal’s…and he’s showing they work. So, I’m taking this all in and applying it to my blog. Plus some of the stuff he teaches here has also given me great ideas and strategies for my website. All I can say is thanks, Micheal, and I look forward to connecting with everyone here as much as possible!
When I complete the blog, I will post it here to see what everyone thinks. Much heart.

  • Hi Everyone,I’m Lisa and I’m a Marketing Manager for a plastics distributor. i also have my own freelance business doing graphic design work. The Blogging Fundamentals has been an eye opening course and it’s given me a lot of ideas and things to think about. The company I work for is on board with getting a presence in social media and in having a blog so it’s an exciting time to be involved with them. All the information I’m learning here is certainly going to help.

  • Hello All,  We the last session has ended and we all have great info.  I will write here anyway.  I am Charlee.  I do not write, i cannot think in a straight line, so I am not very strategic.  So I thought about SME/SMSS for a year, read Launch, started 2 blogs and decided I was doing everything wrong.
Then I realized I did have a great resource.  For the last year I have been strategizing with several top organizational development leaders, and after starting over three times-have a plan.  I am about to launch a blog about organization strategy, design, leadership of change.  This is quite high powered and probably only interesting to bigger organizations.  I do have 20+ people willing to write for it.  They are leaders in these areas. (My husbands connections).  I have done every homework assignment completely.

My biggest fear is about getting the decision makers in these organizations to keep coming back. They are very busy (as we all are-but they think they are busier) skim readers.  They are overloaded with e-mail now.  I need to get e-mail addresses but cannot be come a nuisance to them.  I am not sure what to do.

  • Hi Everyone. I’m Bob and have started a FB page to attract golfers. My goal is to grow it to substantial size so I can monetize it. Really a novice at this and need help in ways to attract more fans.  Have used FB ads to attract 411 Likes, but can’t get my head around the viral thing.  I seem to have good stats, and I visit other golfing sites and comment, but don’t seem to get any Likes from them.

As you can see, its a fun FB page with no selling messages and most posts get a good number of views.  http://www.facebook.com/golfaroo

Anyone who can help, please get in touch.

    Cheers

  • Hi there,
I’m from Canada and I enjoyed the 5 sessions from Michael. great stuff!

I already own a blog at kayakcanoeblogger.com which is busy (I got 1000 visitors in just 10 weeks) and with my partner in California we set up a new website LetsBuildYourBlog last July. We set up blogs on WordPress and propose several blog packages so you do not need web developers or designers! We are copywriters trained by AWAI and we learned a lot from Michael Stelzner and his book Launch… You need to get it if not already!! Very useful stuff and nicely written.
